Job Purpose
To support the Head of Corporate Planning and Group Chief Strategy Officer in shaping, translating, and executing the Bank's strategic direction by driving enterprise-wide strategic planning, market intelligence, performance tracking, and strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with the Bank's long-term objectives, regulatory expectations, and business priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Advisory
- Partner with the Head of Corporate Planning and Group Chief Strategy Officer to develop, refine, and operationalize the Bank's enterprise-wide strategic planning framework, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, financial targets, and regulatory expectations.
- Translate high-level strategic intent into actionable roadmaps, initiatives, and milestones, supporting both long-term transformation and short-term execution priorities.
- Provide strategic advisory support to senior management through structured analysis, scenario planning, and evidence-based recommendations.
Market Intelligence & Strategic Analysis
- Lead in-depth research and analysis on market trends, competitive landscape, industry dynamics, and macroeconomic developments relevant to MBSB Bank.
- Identify strategic opportunities, risks, and emerging threats, and assess their implications on the Bank's business model, growth agenda, and performance.
- Develop data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making, including financial, operational, and performance considerations.
Strategy Execution & Performance Monitoring
- Monitor, track, and evaluate the progress of strategic initiatives, ensuring delivery against approved plans, timelines, and performance indicators.
- Prepare regular strategy progress updates, dashboards, and management reports for senior management, highlighting key achievements, gaps, risks, and required interventions.
- Recommend corrective actions or strategic adjustments where execution deviates from approved plans.
Stakeholder Engagement & Alignment
- Collaborate with senior management, business units, and key stakeholders to define strategic priorities, align initiatives, and ensure cross-functional coordination.
- Facilitate discussions and workshops to drive strategic alignment, clarity of direction, and accountability for execution.
- Support the preparation of high-impact presentations, papers, and materials for Management Committees and Board-level engagements, where required.
Years & Nature of Experience
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in consulting, corporate strategy, strategic planning, research, performance management, and/or process improvement.
- Experience within financial services or highly regulated environments will be an added advantage.
Threshold Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related disciplines with strong academic results.
- Strong ability to engage stakeholders across multiple levels of seniority, including the development of structured presentation and communication materials.
- Analytical and pragmatic, with strong time management, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to analyze data and present insights clearly.
- Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with technical and non-technical stakeholders in a professional manner.
- Demonstrates strong strategic thinking, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving capability.
- Possesses leadership and business management skills, with the ability to operate independently, manage ambiguity, and deliver under tight timelines.
- Good understanding of organizational structure, business operations, and performance drivers within a financial services environment.
- Proven ability to handle complex, ambiguous, and strategic issues, and to lead or influence teams to deliver outcomes beyond expectations.
- Numerate, with the ability to interpret and analyze financial data and performance metrics.
