JOB PURPOSE
Manage, monitor, and embed a structured risk management approach and ensure the implementation of the overall risk management practices across the organisation, supporting informed decision-making and aligning with the company's risk appetite and strategic goals to safeguard the organisation's value, enhancing stakeholder confidence and supporting regulatory compliance and corporate governance.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, implement and maintain the group-wide ERM governing documents by reviewing and enhancing effective implementation of the Group's Risk Policy, ERM Framework and process manual, Risk Appetite and Risk Assessment in Decision Making (RADM) guideline to ensure consistency, strengthen risk culture, and support informed decision-making across the Group.
- Drive and collaborate with Business Units and Subsidiaries to embed a strong risk culture and ERM capabilities by ensuring group-wide implementation of risk management practices in line with MHB's framework and policy.
- Respond to internal and external audit queries by providing data, clarification and evidence of risk management activities during audits, governance reviews or assurance exercises.
- Manage the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Group's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) activities/programs by assessing, monitoring and mitigating business risks to safeguard shareholders return interest and the group's sustainability. This includes
- Develop, review and update the MHB annual Corporate Risk Profile that aligns with the Group's strategic plan to achieve its goals.
- Manage, facilitate and collaborate discussions with respective Business Units and Subsidiaries focal points on their respective risk registers to ensure the relevant and key risks are being assessed, treated, mitigated and monitored and that appropriate risk indicator thresholds are set.
- Review quarterly the respective department risk registers to ensure comprehensive tracking, mitigation and reporting of risks.
- Prepare, review and update quarterly Enterprise Risk Management report for deliberation at MHB Risk Council (RC), MHB Board Sustainability & Risk Committee (BSRC) and MISC Management Risk Council (MRC) on quarterly basis.
- Monitor emerging trends that pose risks or create opportunities for proactive risk management and recognizes changes in the external environment that could benefit the Group.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Sustainability Department to plan, develop and implement climate and sustainability risk assessments that support MHB's ESG agenda and contribute to the achievement of its established sustainability targets.
- Perform climate and sustainability risk assessments in alignment with the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) process by identifying, evaluating and monitoring climate-related and ESG risks that may impact business operations or strategic decisions.
- Support the integration of climate and sustainability risks into enterprise-wide risk registers by applying risk methodologies, collaborating with risk owners and ensuring consistency with guidelines and external frameworks.
- Contribute to sustainability disclosures and reporting by providing risk-related inputs and assessments to support regulatory filings (e.g., Bursa Sustainability Report)
- Manage, coordinate and support the implementation of Risk Assessment for Decision Making (RADM) by paper preparers (BUs/subsidiaries) for proposals involving investments or other areas requiring risk assessment as outlined in the RADM Guideline and ensure the RADM process is conducted in full compliance with the Guideline. This includes:
- Facilitate, challenge and review the risks and mitigation identified, together with the paper preparer, to support informed, effective and accountable decisions by identifying, analysing, and evaluating potential risks and their impacts.
- Prepare, review, and update the Statement of Risk Management and Internal Control (SORMIC) and other enterprise risk inputs for inclusion in the Integrated Annual Report.
- Provide leadership and coaching to develop and motivate staff on performance/skills/competency improvement to achieve the department's goal.
JOB REQUIREMENT
- Any recognised Degree e.g. Risk Management/ Accounting/ Business Administration/ Finance/ Engineering
- Professional qualification or advance degree would be an added advantage.
- At least 6 years in a managerial position
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in risk management/corporate planning/development, and/or finance
- Knowledge in marine, oil & gas and heavy engineering would be an added advantage.
