Job Purpose

The Manager, Global Credit and Collection will ensure the correct management of the credit policy and processes, adhering to credit risk policies while managing risk for the assigned area. This role involves building relationships with relevant stakeholders and departments to oversee and advise on credit processes, as well as managing a team of Credit Advisors to ensure KPIs are met.

Responsibilities

Financial Policies, Guidelines, and Processes

  • Monitor adherence to global policies and manage implementation of policies and processes.
  • Advise on interpretation and application of credit policies.
  • Ensure policies and procedures within Credit Control reflect best practices and SOX compliance, providing support, education, and training where necessary.

Credit Control and Collections

  • Review and pre-vet potential new customers and opportunities to evaluate financial risk.
  • Identify and investigate aged debt, managing the dunning process effectively to maximize collection of overdue payments.
  • Facilitate timely collections management across the six regions.
  • Manage the approval flow (CMA) for new credit limits and customer onboarding through the system, following up with the Credit Desk.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly reviews for bad debt/bankruptcies.
  • Liaise with significant external customers or partners to resolve complex payment issues.
  • Arrange meetings between Commercial and Credit, Finance, and Management to discuss trends and solutions for past due accounts leading to payments.

Insights and Reporting

  • Prepare and coordinate various data and analytics reports.
  • Provide guidance to relevant stakeholders and departments based on available data and reports.
  • Assist with preparation of credit documentation for annual credit reviews and financial evaluations for larger customers.

Financial Management and Control

  • Assist with the smooth implementation and training of relevant credit systems concerning deduction/collections management, metrics, interest billing, and dunning notices.
  • Suggest developments to tools and processes based on stakeholder needs and identified problems.

Operational Compliance

  • Identify instances of non-compliance with organizational policies and procedures or relevant regulatory codes, reporting and escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Support and oversee the implementation of compliance and control policies across APL Logistics

Requirement

General Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in credit management and credit risk management and analysis.

Managerial Experience

  • Proven experience in working effectively across teams and successfully leading process implementations.
