Role Overview
The Associate Manager – R2R will be responsible for managing shared services operations supporting SGS's client's Record-to-Report processes. This includes ensuring timely and accurate month-end close, reconciliations, reporting of outstanding accruals, and preparation of relevant dashboards. The role requires strong leadership, process governance, and stakeholder management to deliver high-quality financial reporting and compliance.
Responsibilities
Maintain Organizational and Functional Excellence
• Lead, develop, and motivate a high-performance R2R team to deliver accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Foster a strong process-driven culture with emphasis on compliance, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Ensure adherence to SLAs and internal controls across all R2R processes.
Strengthen Relationships
• Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams (FP&A, Controllership, Tax, Treasury).
• Understand business needs and proactively resolve issues with a balanced approach to business and people management.
• Communicate key performance metrics, customer satisfaction survey results, and implement corrective actions where needed.
Strengthen Process and Controls
• Act as the primary source of guidance for the R2R team on accounting policies, reconciliations, and closing activities.
• Monitor compliance with internal controls, duplication checks, and accuracy of journal entries.
• Drive process improvements, digitization, and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce manual interventions.
Take the Lead
• Manage multiple R2R work streams globally, including general ledger accounting, accruals, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Ensure timely month-end close and accurate financial statements.
• Align the team to deliver highest quality and accuracy in reporting while maintaining team spirit and accountability.
Team Management
• Distribute work fairly among team members and foster collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• Conduct regular tech-talks and training sessions to enhance technical skills.
• Review open and closed cases, monitor daily activity, and ensure smooth workflow management.
Reporting & Analytics
• Analyze financial trends and data to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Prepare and present dashboards, KPIs, and performance reports to client managers.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory reporting requirements.
Impact the Bottom Line
• Conduct regular 1:1s with team leaders and skip-level meetings with associates.
• Run effective team meetings to align priorities and address challenges.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize R2R processes and reduce costs.
Qualifications
• 15+ years of experience in R2R/Finance & Accounting operations, preferably in a BPO/shared services environment.
• Strong exposure to general ledger, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting.
• Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate high-performance teams.
• Experience in SLA finalization, implementation, and adherence.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to identify core issues impacting financial reporting and propose solutions through process transformation or digitization.
• Knowledge of blocked/parked journal entries and ability to provide insights into accounting issues.
• Willingness to work flexible 9-hour shifts, including early morning hours to support global operations.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret financial data and drive actionable insights.
• Commitment to compliance, accuracy, and continuous improvement in R2R processes.
