Job Description

Experience: 6–9 years, with at least 3 years leading reconciliation, revenue assurance or controllership in broking, payments, banking, or crypto

About the Role

Own the assurance that every rupee and VDA earned, held or moved is complete, accurate and reconciled. This covers trading fees, spreads and other crypto revenue across spot, futures and options, plus the treasury of fiat and crypto assets held across banks, exchanges, custodians and on-chain wallets.

Lead the Revenue Assurance team, improve the control framework that catches leakage before it hits the books, and act as the finance owner whom product, engineering, treasury and audit approach when numbers don't tie up.

Key Responsibilities

Revenue Assurance

  • Own end-to-end assurance of crypto revenue streams: trading fees, maker/taker fees, funding fees, spreads, withdrawal and network fees, liquidation and other income across spot, futures and options.
  • Detect and quantify revenue leakage: misconfigured fee tiers, incorrect discounts or rebates, unbilled transactions, promo and referral misuse, failed or reversed trades.
  • Validate fee and pricing changes before launch with product and engineering, so new features ship with assurance checks built in.

Treasury Assurance

  • Ensure daily reconciliation of crypto holdings across hot, warm and cold wallets, custodians, and liquidity or hedging venues against internal ledgers and user balances.
  • Oversee fiat reconciliation across banks, payment gateways and nodal or escrow accounts, including deposit and withdrawal flows.
  • Track proof-of-reserves and asset-liability matching: customer liabilities fully covered by assets held, by token and in aggregate.
  • Monitor inter-venue and inter-wallet transfers, stuck or failed on-chain transactions, and gas/network fee accounting.

Completeness and Accuracy

  • Build and run a three-way reconciliation framework: user-facing ledger, internal books and external sources (blockchain, exchanges, banks).
  • Set break-ageing, materiality and escalation thresholds; drive breaks to closure with root cause, not just adjustments.
  • Assure accuracy of tax-linked items such as TDS under Section 194S and GST on fees, in partnership with the tax team.
  • Sign off on revenue and treasury numbers that feed monthly close, MIS and board reporting.

Controls, Audit and Compliance

  • Design, document and test key controls (RCM) for revenue and treasury; close gaps found by internal and statutory audit.
  • Be the primary point of contact for auditors on revenue and crypto asset balances.
  • Support regulatory and compliance requests where revenue or asset data is needed.

Automation and Data

  • Move reconciliations from spreadsheets to automated, exception-based pipelines with data and engineering teams.
  • Define the data model, sources of truth and dashboards for revenue and treasury health.
  • Write or review SQL to investigate anomalies directly in the data warehouse.

Leadership and Stakeholders

  • Lead, hire and grow a team of 2–5 analysts and managers; set clear ownership and SLAs.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Treasury, Trading/Market Making, FP&A, Tax, Compliance and Customer Support.
  • Present leakage findings, recoveries and control health to the CFO and leadership monthly.

Backgrounds Considered

Crypto experience is not required. Strongest fits are likely from stockbroking/derivatives and payments, where the money flows and control problems most closely match this role; crypto mechanics can be learnt in 2–3 months.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • CA, with 6–9 years of relevant experience.
  • At least 3 years leading revenue assurance, reconciliation or controllership in a business with high transaction volumes and real-time money movement.
  • Has built or run multi-way reconciliations between a product ledger, the general ledger and external counterparties (banks, exchanges, clearing corporations, gateways).
  • Proven record of finding and recovering revenue leakage from fee, pricing or billing errors, with quantified impact.
  • Has owned assurance over customer money: ensuring customer liabilities are fully covered by assets held (client fund segregation, nodal/escrow, wallet float or similar).
  • Comfort with large transaction-level datasets; working knowledge of a BI tool (Databricks, Tableau, Metabase or similar).
  • Experience designing controls and facing statutory and internal audits.
  • Working knowledge of Ind AS 115 revenue recognition and indirect tax on fee income.
  • Has led and developed a team of 2+ people.
  • Clear curiosity and aptitude to learn crypto mechanics quickly: wallets, on-chain transactions, custody and derivatives funding.

Good to Have

  • Any exposure to crypto or virtual digital assets: wallets, custody, exchanges, or crypto accounting and tax (TDS under Section 194S).
  • Experience with derivatives (futures, options) fee, margin or funding flows.
  • Experience building automated reconciliation in-house or with tools like Recko, Simetrik, BlackLine or Duco.
  • Python and SQL for data work and scripting.
  • Exposure to market-making or liquidity-provider settlements.
  • Familiarity with FIU-IND reporting or SEBI/RBI audit expectations.
