Position Summary

Job Title: Senior Overhaul/Repair Engineer

Position Summary

The (Senior) Overhaul/Repair Engineer is responsible for developing, supporting, and continuously enhancing repair processes for aerospace components within the MRO operation. This role emphasizes process engineering to ensure repairs are executed effectively and efficiently. Key responsibilities include developing and validating repair solutions, supporting capability expansion initiatives, and ensuring full compliance with regulatory standards and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Support for MRO Operations
  • Develop repair instructions and technical work scopes based on component condition and approved maintenance data.
  • Lead a team to troubleshoot repair issues and recommend solutions aligned with airworthiness standards.
  • Review and propose deviation requests, engineering orders and repairs processes.
  • Lead a cross-functional team or collaborate with operations and quality teams to resolve technical challenges affecting turnaround time and yield.
  • Process and Capability Development
  • Lead or contribute to new capability projects by providing input on tooling design, developing processes, and conducting validation activities.
  • Evaluate equivalent repair techniques, materials or process changes for cost-effectiveness and technical feasibility.
  • Analyze repair data to recommend process improvements and corrective actions.
  • Document and Compliance
  • Prepare and maintain electronic work plans for each program and work scope, aligned with the recommended maintenance process flow
  • Draft, maintain and update engineering work instructions, process specifications and related documentation.
  • Ensure engineering activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal procedures.
  • Participate in audits, internal reviews and compliance checks related to engineering documentation.
  • Tooling and Equipment Evaluation
  • Perform assessment and validation of special tools, jigs and test equipment required for repair activities.
  • Assist in technical justifications for capital expenditures related to engineering infrastructure
  • Perform reverse engineering to develop equivalent alternatives for special tools
  • Safety and Risk Management
  • Participate in Safety Management System (SMS) activities involving engineering investigations.
  • Identify and assess technical risks related to new or modified processes, tooling or repair techniques.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with production, quality, and other team members to support day-to-day technical operations.
  • Interface with OEMs or customers for technical clarifications related to component repair processes.
  • Coordinate with the Equipment Maintenance team as needed to ensure process equipment readiness.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Overseeing technicians and junior engineers, providing guidance, and ensuring adherence to technical manuals and standard operating procedures

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 4-6 of experience in manufacturing, assembly, and testing, preferably in Aerospace/Aviation Manufacturing or MRO of aircraft components.
  • Proficient in English with effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong technical knowledge of aircraft systems, repair techniques, and NDT methods.
  • Experienced in leading teams and managing complex projects.
  • Familiar with industry standards like AS9100 and FAA regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of Project Management and CAD software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, CATIA, SolidWorks); familiarity with PLC and CNC machine learning is a plus.
  • Experience in fixture design, testing, and fabrication through to completion.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications is an added advantage.
