Position Summary/Purpose
Monetary
Mandatory Bachelor's Degree in:
Experience/Knowledge/Skills
- Supporting HSE department by compiling proper analysis, analyzing data, identifying inefficiencies, and developing solutions to improve HSE performance in VMM according to industry best practice, and international standards such as ISO 45001.
- Design and recommend improvement on existing strategies to optimize workflows, improving efficiency in procedure across various activities related to Operation, Maintenance and Investment to drive Health & Safety result in VMM operationally.
- Supporting operational areas in term of ensuring all safety procedures remain current, practical, and aligned with operational risks.
Monetary
- Contributes to the reduction of incident-related costs, operational disruptions, and regulatory penalties through effective HSE management practices.
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives that optimize operational efficiency and risk management.
- Supports HSE compliance across VMM Operations,
- Maintenance, and Investment activities.
- Reviews and maintains safety procedures, standards, and work instructions in alignment with legal requirements and ISO 45001.
- Conducts safety audits, inspections, gap assessments, and corrective action follow-up.
- Provides HSE technical support to operational areas and influences safe work practices across the organization.
- Engages with multiple stakeholders across Operations, Maintenance, Compliance, Operational Excellence, and Assurance functions.
- Safety Management System Improvement by reviewing and evaluate existing safety policies, procedures, work instructions, and standard including recommendation of improvements. This may include activities such as:
- Leading periodic reviews of company safety procedures.
- Identify procedural gaps, duplicated processes, and areas requiring enhancement.
- Simplifying and optimize procedures to improve user understanding and compliance
- Technically support related implementation of local legislation and Vale safety requirements to the area.
- Conduct gap analyses against legal requirements, industry best practices, and international standards such as ISO 45001 and provide critical analysist on all safety procedures be effective, practical, and aligned with operational risks. This will involving:
- Conducting internal safety audits and inspection and providing key analysis report.
- Verifying compliance with local legislation, company standards, and global requirements.
- Support external audits, certifications, and regulatory inspections
- Track corrective and preventive actions until closure.
Mandatory Bachelor's Degree in:
- Occupational Safety & Health
- AND related engineering field - Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical
Experience/Knowledge/Skills
- Mandatory - Minimum: 7–10 years of experience in Occupational Safety & Health, Safety Engineering, or Safety Analysis.
- Experienced in Risk Assessment & Risk Management, Root Cause Analysis, Incident Investigation, Human Factors Analysis , ISO 45001 Management Systems, Safety Auditing, Data Analysis & Reporting
- Well verse in English and Bahasa Melayu
- Preferred: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), NEBOSH Diploma, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, OSHA Certification, NIOSH Safety & Health Officer (Malaysia), Well verse in Portugese
