The Company
Our client is a global developer and operator of hyperscale data centres, supporting some of the world's largest technology companies and digital platforms. With a rapidly expanding footprint across the Asia-Pacific region, they are investing heavily in engineering excellence to deliver highly reliable, scalable, and energy-efficient digital infrastructure.
As part of their continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their APAC engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale, mission-critical data centre developments, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across design, construction, and operations.
The Role
Based in Cyberjaya, the Design Engineer will play a key role in the design, review, and coordination of mechanical, plumbing, and sanitary systems for mission-critical infrastructure projects.
Working closely with engineering, construction, and operations teams, you will ensure designs are technically robust, compliant with international standards, and fully integrated across disciplines. The role will also support projects through construction, testing, commissioning, and operational readiness, ensuring the design intent is successfully delivered on site.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing detailed mechanical designs for data centre infrastructure including HVAC systems, chillers, CRAH/CRAC/FWU units, pumps, plumbing, and fire protection systems
- Performing load calculations, system sizing, and performance simulations to ensure optimal efficiency and reliability
- Ensuring compliance with international and local engineering standards including Uptime Tier, TIA, NFPA, IEC, and relevant regulatory codes
- Coordinating with civil, structural, electrical, and operations teams to deliver integrated design solutions
- Participating in design reviews, technical workshops, and multidisciplinary coordination meetings
- Supporting equipment selection and system specification aligned with operational and budget requirements
- Producing and maintaining engineering documentation including design reports, calculations, schematics, and as-built drawings
- Providing technical support during construction, installation, and commissioning phases
- Assisting with testing and commissioning (T&C) and troubleshooting of mechanical systems to ensure operational readiness
- Ensuring smooth handover of engineering documentation to operations teams
