Key Responsibilities:
- Develop conceptual designs, prototypes, and finalized solutions for products and automation equipment to meet customer specifications.
- Create design concepts, CAD models, and detailed drawings, ensuring optimal product solutions.
- Conduct brainstorming, design reviews, and verification processes before fabrication or tooling release.
- Perform research on relevant technologies and structures to enhance design concepts.
- Verify and validate products to ensure compliance with functional, quality, and regulatory standards.
Project and Team Leadership:
- Take full responsibility and accountability for assigned project designs.
- Coordinate independently with customers to manage buy-off schedules.
- Participate in assembly processes during product/machine development.
- Address production and customer complaints, committing to improvement actions.
Process and Quality Management:
- Meet product development, production, and quality goals, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Identify improvement opportunities and propose preventive or corrective actions for new or existing products/machines.
- Deliver high-quality designs that align with internal and external expectations.
- Implement mistake-proofing (poka-yoke) techniques to prevent design failures.
- Prepare proposals and costings for quotations, supported by validated design data.
Technical Expertise:
- Demonstrate proficiency in plastic design, injection molding, sheet metal stamping, metal bending, rubber, and die-casting processes.
- Apply knowledge of pneumatics, gearing, motors, and sensors in automation equipment design.
Project and Task Management:
- Achieve project timelines and budget goals while ensuring robust design outcomes.
- Handle ad-hoc tasks and overtime as needed during critical project phases.
- Execute tasks assigned by superiors, including the COO, CEO, or Executive Committee.
- Maintain flexibility to travel abroad based on project or task requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 2- 3 years of experience in automation equipment design, product design, and troubleshooting.
- Proven ability to manage projects independently and coordinate with customers.
- Strong background in plastic design, injection molding, sheet metal stamping, metal bending, rubber, and die-casting.
- Familiarity with pneumatics, gearing, motors, and sensors.
- Demonstrated responsibility, strong communication, and action-oriented skills.
