Mechanical Director / Senior Manager

Job Description

Lead, manage and develop the Mechanical Design team to achieve project milestones,departmental objectives and overall business goals.

Provide hands-on technical leadership in machine concept development, mechanism design,3D modelling, engineering calculations, component selection and detailed mechanical designfor critical or complex projects.

Lead the resolution of complex mechanical design, machine performance and technical issues by providing practical engineering solutions and technical direction.

Review and approve mechanical concepts, layouts, drawings, bills of materials and design changes to ensure technical accuracy, quality, reliability and compliance with project requirements.

Lead the development of new machines and drive continuous improvement of existing machine designs to meet performance, cycle time, quality, reliability and customer requirements.

Drive design optimization and cost reduction initiatives by improving manufacturability,simplifying assembly, reducing machine cost and enhancing overall machine performance.

Work closely with Electrical, Software, Process, Manufacturing, Quality and Project teams to ensure successful machine development, technical integration and project execution.

Establish, maintain and continuously improve mechanical design standards, design guidelines, standard components and reusable machine modules to promote consistency and engineering efficiency.

Coach, mentor and guide mechanical engineers to strengthen the team's technical capability in machine design, design review, troubleshooting and problem-solving.

Identify mechanical design risks and ensure appropriate simulation, design verification,testing and validation activities are completed before machine release.

Identify, evaluate and implement new mechanical technologies, mechanisms, design methods and engineering approaches to improve machine capability and competitiveness.

Plan manpower, workload, engineering capacity and design priorities according to project requirements, resource availability and business needs.

Provide technical support and professional input for major customer requirements, technical discussions, project reviews and management decision-making.

Drive continuous improvement in mechanical design processes, engineering productivity,machine quality, technical documentation and development lead time.

Undertake any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Company from time to time.

Job Requirements

Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering,Mechatronics, Electromechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline.

Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience in mechanical design or machine design,preferably in automation, semiconductor equipment or precision machinery environment.

Strong machine design expertise, including machine concept development, mechanism design, precision machine design, component selection and detailed engineering design.

Strong knowledge in engineering calculation and analysis, including mechanical sizing,tolerance analysis, motion calculation, structural consideration and design validation.

Good understanding of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA), with the ability to optimize designs for manufacturability, assembly efficiency, cost reduction and reliability.

Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills, with proven ability to resolve complex mechanical, machine performance and design-related issues.

Possess strong technical leadership skills with the ability to lead, coach and develop mechanical design engineers.

Able to work effectively with cross-functional engineering teams, including Electrical, Software,Process, Manufacturing, Quality and Project teams.

Possess strong project and engineering management capability, including resource planning, workload prioritization, design schedule control and technical decision-making.

Strong technical communication skills with the ability to present design concepts, explain technical issues, support customer discussions and provide clear engineering recommendations to management.
