Job Description
The Opportunity
We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to support the safe, reliable and cost-effective operation of a 24/7 biomass power generation facility in Singapore. The successful candidate will take ownership of mechanical maintenance engineering, CMMS-based work management and equipment reliability across the boiler, fuel handling, steam-water cycle and balance-of-plant systems.
Key Job Scope
. Plan, coordinate and execute preventive, predictive/condition-based, corrective, breakdown and shutdown maintenance for plant mechanical equipment.
. Maintain and continuously improve the CMMS/EAM system, including asset hierarchy, equipment master data, PM plans, job plans/task lists, work orders, maintenance history, failure codes, BOMs and spare-parts linkage.
. Manage the complete work-order cycle: defect notification, prioritization, planning, scheduling, execution, technical feedback and closure.
. Maintain biomass boiler and auxiliaries, fuel receiving/storage and handling systems, conveyors/feeders, pumps, fans, valves, piping, steam/condensate/feedwater systems, ash handling, compressed air and other balance-of-plant mechanical equipment.
. Develop maintenance strategies using OEM recommendations, equipment criticality, operating history, condition monitoring and Reliability-Centred Maintenance principles.
. Lead/support troubleshooting, Root Cause Analysis and Root Cause Failure Analysis for recurring defects, equipment breakdowns, trips and forced outages.
. Implement and review condition-monitoring activities such as vibration analysis, thermography, lubrication/oil analysis, ultrasound, alignment, balancing and thickness measurement, as applicable.
. Track equipment reliability and maintenance KPIs including PM compliance, schedule compliance, MTBF, MTTR, backlog, repeat failures and maintenance cost.
. Prepare maintenance scopes of work and technical specifications coordinate OEMs, specialist service providers and contractors during repairs, inspections and overhauls.
. Support planned shutdowns, major overhauls, commissioning/start-up activities, warranty/defect close-out and reliability improvement projects.
. Review critical spare-parts requirements, min/max stock levels, long-lead items and equipment preservation requirements with Stores and Procurement.
. Ensure all maintenance activities comply with plant HSE requirements, including PTW, LOTO, risk assessments, method statements and applicable Singapore WSH requirements.
. Maintain accurate technical and maintenance records and prepare weekly/monthly reports on equipment condition, reliability risks, maintenance performance and improvement actions.
. Coach and guide mechanical technicians in safe work practices, precision maintenance, troubleshooting and proper CMMS work-order feedback.
Candidate Profile
. Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
. Approximately 5-8 years of relevant mechanical maintenance experience in biomass, thermal power, waste-to-energy, cogeneration, utilities or other continuous-process plants.
. Strong hands-on knowledge of rotating and static equipment, including pumps, fans, bearings, seals, valves, piping, conveyors and boiler auxiliaries.
. Practical experience with multiple maintenance approaches: preventive, predictive, condition-based, corrective/breakdown, shutdown/turnaround and reliability-centred maintenance.
. Strong hands-on CMMS/EAM experience exposure to SAP PM, IBM Maximo, Infor EAM or equivalent systems is preferred.
. Working knowledge of RCA/RCFA, FMEA/FMECA, equipment criticality and reliability improvement methods.
. Ability to read P&IDs, mechanical drawings, equipment datasheets and OEM manuals.
. Good written and spoken English and the ability to prepare technical reports, scopes of work and maintenance plans.
. Experience with high-pressure boilers, biomass fuel handling and/or power plant commissioning will be an advantage.
What Success Looks Like
The role will contribute directly to high plant availability, reduced forced outages, improved MTBF/MTTR, disciplined CMMS usage, high PM and schedule compliance, controlled maintenance backlog, effective condition monitoring and safe, high-quality maintenance execution.
Application
Interested candidates should submit an updated CV highlighting relevant power/process plant mechanical maintenance experience, CMMS/EAM systems used, major equipment handled, shutdown/overhaul experience and reliability or maintenance-improvement achievements.
