Responsibilities
- Execute merchant acquisition strategies set by the Merchant Acquisition Manager to onboard new retail partners, with a strong focus on hunting and closing new business.
- Prospect and generate leads through cold outreach, field visits, referrals, and market research to build a healthy pipeline of potential merchants.
- Pitch Company's value proposition to merchant decision-makers, addressing objections and tailoring solutions to merchant needs.
- Negotiate and close commercial agreements within guidelines provided by the Merchant AcquisitionManager, ensuring mutually beneficial partnerships.
- Manage your individual pipeline end-to-end — from lead identification to contract signing — using CRM tools to track progress and ensure timely follow-ups.
- Coordinate with internal teams (Onboarding, Operations, Key Account Management, and Marketing) to ensure smooth handover and successful merchant activation.
- Conduct market and competitor scans at the ground level, providing insights and feedback to the Manager to help refine acquisition strategies.
- Meet or exceed individual weekly and monthly KPIs across new merchant signings, category coverage, and activation rates.
- Provide regular reporting and updates to the Merchant Acquisition Manager on pipeline health, conversion rates, and on-ground challenges.
What Essential Skills You Will Need
- 2+ years of experience in business development, sales, merchant acquisition, or a related field — ideally within e-commerce, quick-commerce, FMCG, retail, or fintech.
- Proven hunter mentality with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales/acquisition targets.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to confidently pitch to merchant owners and decision-makers.
- Self-motivated and resilient, comfortable with high-volume outreach and rejection as part of the sales process.
- Good understanding of the retail or quick-commerce landscape, with curiosity about market trends and competitor activity.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively for in-person merchant meetings and field based prospecting.
- Proficiency in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and basic data tools (Excel/Google Sheets) for pipeline management and reporting.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple leads simultaneously.
