About the Role

Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), Malaysia's leading transshipment hub, is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Network & Cybersecurity Executive to join our Information Technology Division.

This role is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and security of enterprise network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and protection against cyber threats. The position requires a strong technical background, hands-on operational capabilities, and the ability to support mission-critical systems in a fast-paced environment.

You will play a key role in network operations, cybersecurity incident response, and infrastructure optimization, working closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors.

Role Overview

  • Reporting To: IT Manager / Head of IT
  • Location: Gelang Patah, Johor, Malaysia

Key Responsibilities

1. Network Operations & Support

  • Plan and execute scheduled network upgrades, patches, and firmware updates.
  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve network faults and performance issues.
  • Provide Level 3 technical support for network and infrastructure-related incidents.
  • Monitor network performance, availability, and uptime to ensure business continuity.
  • Prepare and report network status, incidents, and risk updates to stakeholders.

2. Network Infrastructure Management

  • Install, configure, and maintain wired and wireless network systems.
  • Manage enterprise network components including:
  • Routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Proxy servers and WAN accelerators
  • DNS and DHCP services
  • Configure routing, switching, and firewall rules to enhance performance and security.
  • Manage procurement of network equipment and coordinate with subcontractors for deployment and maintenance.

3. Network Design & Optimization

  • Design and implement new network solutions aligned with business requirements.
  • Optimize existing network architecture for scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Conduct capacity planning, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.

4. Cybersecurity & Incident Response

  • Support and execute the organization's Cybersecurity Incident Response (IR) plan.
  • Align network and security architecture with recognized cybersecurity standards and best practices.
  • Design, develop, and test secure infrastructure including cloud-based environments.
  • Identify vulnerabilities and support mitigation strategies to strengthen security posture.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of cybersecurity policies, controls, and processes.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
  • Postgraduate qualification or professional certification is an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Network Administration and/or Cybersecurity roles.
  • Proven hands-on experience in managing enterprise network and security environments.

Skills & Technical Competencies

  • Strong expertise in:
  • Network design, routing, switching, and firewall configuration
  • Cybersecurity operations and incident response
  • Familiarity with:
  • Microsoft O365
  • Linux environments
  • SharePoint
  • HP-UX (advantage)
  • Professional certifications such as:
  • Networking certifications (e.g., CCNA/CCNP)
  • Microsoft (MCSE)
  • Cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CEH, CISSP – advantage)
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities
  • Ability to multitask and perform under pressure in a fast-paced operational environment
