Job Description

Role Overview

This role is responsible for the end-to-end operational management of port-related IT systems and software platforms, ensuring high system availability, smooth project rollouts, and effective coordination between port operators, clients, vendors, and internal teams.

Candidates with prior experience in seaports, terminals, logistics, or port-related IT systems will be highly preferred.

Salary Range: RM 4,000 RM 4,500 (depending on experience)

Key Responsibilities

Operations

Person in charge of day-to-day operational system activities.

Serve as the primary IT operations contact for clients, port operators, and internal stakeholders regarding system-related issues and operational inquiries.

Oversee and coordinate port IT operations, ensuring alignment with port workflows, SOPs, and compliance requirements.

Monitor system performance and proactively identify operational risks, incidents, or service degradation.

Participate in port operations and coordination meetings with port management and port authorities to provide updates on system performance, incidents, and operational readiness.

Act as the Major Incident Manager, leading client communication, coordinating resolution efforts, and managing stakeholder updates during critical system outages or service disruptions.

IT Project & Implementation Management

Lead and coordinate system rollouts and enhancements, acting as the on-site project coordinator for port and logistics-related implementations.

Develop and maintain project plans, covering scope, timelines, resources, dependencies, and risk management.

Track project milestones and deliverables, ensuring projects are delivered on time and in accordance with agreed requirements.

Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), deployment activities, and post-implementation support with internal IT teams, vendors, and port stakeholders.

Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including implementation plans, change logs, incident reports, and post-implementation reviews.

Provide regular project status reports and escalation updates to HQ management and relevant stakeholders.

Infrastructure, Integration & Stakeholder Management

Oversee the maintenance and optimization of IT infrastructure, including hardware, software applications, network connectivity, and system integrations within port environments.

Ensure seamless integration between port systems, logistics platforms, and third-party solutions.

Work closely with logistics operations teams, port authorities, technology vendors, and service providers to align IT solutions with operational and regulatory requirements.

Manage vendor and service provider performance to ensure SLA compliance and service quality standards.

Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients and port stakeholders to support long-term operational effectiveness.

Requirements

Proven experience in IT operations or IT project management within port, terminal, shipping, or logistics environments.

Strong understanding of port operations, logistics workflows, and IT system integration.

Hands-on experience coordinating system rollouts, upgrades, or digital transformation initiatives.

Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills.

Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage incidents in a high-availability operational environment.

Preferably available to start immediately.

Willingness to travel as required to support port operations and project deployments.
