My client is looking for a hands-on Operations Manager who understands the realities of a precision machining environment, where tight tolerances, process control, and quality are non-negotiable.
This role is ideal for a leader who can balance production output with technical excellence. You'll be someone who is comfortable on the shopfloor, understands CNC operations and quality constraints, and knows how to drive performance without compromising standards.
What You'll Own
End-to-End Manufacturing Operations
- Lead daily operations across CNC machining, inspection, and finishing processes
- Drive on-time delivery, productivity, and yield improvement in a high-mix, precision environment
- Ensure strong coordination between production, quality, and engineering
Performance & Process Control
- Manage and improve KPIs (OEE, scrap, rework, lead time, output)
- Identify bottlenecks and improve workflow efficiency across machining and inspection
- Strengthen process discipline, standard work, and shopfloor execution
Precision & Quality Alignment
- Partner closely with Quality to ensure output meets GD&T, tight tolerance, and surface finish requirements
- Drive a right-first-time culture, reducing reliance on end-of-line inspection
- Support resolution of machining and dimensional issues (e.g. variation, tool wear, process drift)
Continuous Improvement & Technical Excellence
- Drive process capability improvements (Cp/Cpk) and lean initiatives
- Support process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) and new product introduction (NPI)
- Improve manufacturing methods, fixturing, and overall process robustness
Cross-Functional & Customer Alignment
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure production readiness and stability
- Support customer audits, delivery commitments, and regulatory expectations
- Contribute to scaling operations while maintaining precision and quality standards
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop supervisors, technicians, and operators
- Build a strong shopfloor culture of accountability, discipline, and continuous improvement
- Coach teams to strengthen both technical capability and operational execution
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience managing operations in CNC machining, precision engineering, or metal manufacturing
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and production flow
- Comfortable working in a high-precision environment (tight tolerances, GD&T exposure preferred)
- Experience working closely with quality and metrology functions
- Track record of improving productivity, yield, and process stability
- Hands-on leadership style - visible and active on the shopfloor
Highly advantageous:
- Background spanning both Engineering and Production/Operations roles, with the ability to bridge technical problem-solving and practical shopfloor execution
- Experience in regulated industries (e.g., medical devices, aerospace)
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or structured problem-solving approaches
- Exposure to metrology, CMM, or inspection-driven environments
Why Join Our Client:
Tthis is about leading operations in a precision-driven environment where quality, machining capability, and process control are tightly connected.
If you enjoy solving real shopfloor challenges, improving performance, and leading teams in a high-precision, technically demanding setting, this role is built for you.
