Perdana University is seeking a qualified and experienced professional to fill the dual role of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Lecturer and Safety Coordinator. This position involves delivering academic instruction, conducting research, and managing the university's comprehensive safety and health program. The successful candidate will also serve as the secretary for the University's Health and Safety Committee.
Responsibilities:
Teaching & Learning:
- Deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions on OSH at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Develop and enhance course materials, assessments, and innovative teaching methods aligned with industry standards.
- Supervise and mentor students in research projects, dissertations, and industrial placements.
- Ensure academic quality assurance through curriculum reviews and continuous improvement.
- Research & Scholarly Activities:
- Conduct high-impact research in OSH, contributing to the university's research profile.
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences.
Academic Leadership & Administration:
- Provide academic leadership in curriculum design and program development.
- Lead workshops, training sessions, and seminars for students and professionals.
- Serve on university committees, accreditation panels, and advisory boards.
Industry & Community Engagement:
- Establish partnerships with OSH professionals, regulatory bodies, and employers.
- Promote industry linkages through internships, research collaborations, and professional training programs.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and international best practices.
Safety Coordinator Duties:
- Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with OSHA and relevant Malaysian legislation.
- Conduct risk assessments and hazard identification.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure compliance.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, and implement corrective actions.
- Serve as secretary for the University's Health and Safety Committee, including agenda preparation, minute-taking, and action item follow-up.
- Plan and implement safety and health initiatives, including campaigns and workshops.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans and conduct drills.
- Maintain accurate safety records and prepare reports.
Qualifications:
- Master's or PhD in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in higher education.
- Proven track record of research publications in OSH.
- Experience supervising postgraduate students and research projects.
- Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations, risk management, and hazard control.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong understanding of Malaysian safety legislations.
