Part Time Lecturer - Creative Writing

RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching & Learning

• Undertake teaching and teaching-related duties, such as designing, preparing, and developing teaching materials.
• Conduct classes/lectures, tutorials, and practicals engage in consultations with students perform invigilation, marking, and assessment.
• Establish and maintain high standards of teaching and effective learning to meet the University's teaching and learning expectations.

Administration and Other Activities

• Undertake and contribute to administrative responsibilities, including attending departmental meetings and participating in committees and working groups within the Department, School, and Faculty.

REQUIREMENTS

• Candidate must have a minimum Master's Degree in Creative Writing, English, Literature, Theatre, or a related field, or a Bachelor's Degree with 3 years of related work experience in the subject taught or equivalent professional experience may be considered in exceptional cases.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in teaching creative writing at a tertiary level.
• Demonstrated professional experience as a writer in fiction, poetry, screenwriting, or other relevant creative writing settings.
• Experience in curriculum development and academic administration is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of creative writing principles and practices, including storytelling, narrative structure, characterisation, voice, and style.
• Ability to teach diverse creative writing approaches and practices, across relevant forms such as fiction, poetry, screenwriting, and other literary or media-based genres.
• Experience in manuscript development, editorial feedback, workshop facilitation, or working with creative and editorial teams is preferred.
• Knowledge of narrative development, literary craft, textual analysis, and publishing processes relevant to creative writing.
