Job Summary:
Looking for a talented Pastry Chef to manage daily pastry operations and deliver high-quality desserts and baked goods while maintaining food safety, cost control, and consistent quality standards.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate and manage the pastry section of kitchen, working together with the other chefs
- Prepare a variety of baked goods
- Decorate and present pastries and baked goods in a tasteful and beautiful way
- Monitor and order ingredients, supplies and equipment
- Meet with guests to discuss custom-made desserts or baked goods for special occasions
- Ensure the bakery section of the kitchen adheres to health and safety regulations
- Develop new seasonal recipes and menus and keep up with the latest trends
- To hire, train, motivates, supervise and discipline all pastry team members.
- To communicate regularly with the Executive Chef to achieve an excellent rapport throughout the food production department and in developing new menu items.
- To request all items needed for the following day from the food storeroom, non-food storeroom and stewarding department.
- To ensure proper sanitation procedures are followed and the pastry section is always clean, neat and orderly.
- To ensure all equipment is in full working order.
- To ensure a superior production of sweet items, pastries, cakes, ice creams, sorbets, fruit compotes, breads, chocolates, etc. for all outlets as well as banquets and amenities.
- To ensure an adequate supply of all products prepared on a timely basis.
- To prepare exciting and appealing petit fours and mignardises.
- To establish standard recipes and ensure the compliance.
- The ability to make show pieces as needed and to execute Alternative Cuisine.
- The ability to have full knowledge of Amari Food Standards.
- The ability to be certified in Food Service Sanitation.
- To organize and delegate the preparation of all banquet function food
- To communicate effectively with the banquet department, stewarding, pastry section and the food storeroom
- To respond properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation.
- To perform other tasks or projects as assigned by hotel management and staff.
Qualifications
- Culinary degree with a focus on pastry or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years in pastry roles.
- Pastry skills, creativity, attention to detail.
- The position is open to local and permanent residents only.
