Job Title: Payroll Officer

Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Officer to manage and execute our organisation's payroll function for a weekly payroll of 200-250 employees. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, an understanding of all payroll compliance regulations across multi-state jurisdictions and a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality. The Payroll Officer will ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll daily timesheets from multi-site locations and apply EBA requirements and conditions. Must be an effective communicator with employees regarding payroll-related inquiries.
Key Responsibilities
- Payroll Processing: Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including calculating wages, deductions, overtime for employees. Ensure timely and accurate payroll disbursement.
- Compliance: Stay current with state payroll regulations and ensure compliance with all applicable laws. Generate Single Touch Payroll ATO verified reports and superannuation contributions.
- Data Management: Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including hours worked, leave taken, and other relevant data. Update payroll system with employee changes such as new hires, terminations, and salary adjustments.
- Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliation of payroll accounts, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Reporting: Generate and distribute payroll reports, including summaries of payroll expenses, tax withholdings, and benefits deductions. Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation as required.
- Employee Support: Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries from employees, including questions about payments, deductions, and benefits. Provide support during the onboarding process for new hires regarding payroll procedures.
- System Maintenance: Assist in maintaining and upgrading payroll software and systems. Ensure data integrity and troubleshoot any system issues related to payroll.
- Confidentiality: Handle sensitive employee information with the utmost confidentiality and adhere to company privacy policies.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in payroll processing, accounting, or a related role. Experience with payroll software and systems is highly desirable.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of payroll procedures, tax requirements, and can understand employment contracts and apply EBA requirements.
- Proficiency in payroll software Employment Hero (previously known as Keypay) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
