People & Culture Generalist
Job Description
Job purpose
- We are looking for a People & Culture Generalist to support the day-to-day people operations and employee experience of our growing, globally distributed team.
- This role is hands-on and execution-focused. You will be the primary point of contact for employees on people-related matters, ensuring that HR operations run smoothly while helping to create a positive, consistent, and engaging employee experience across regions.
- You will work closely with our HR team and external vendors, and partner with managers to ensure people processes are clear, reliable, and fairly applied.
- This role is ideal for someone who enjoys operational ownership, cares about culture and employee experience, and is comfortable working in a lean, fast-moving startup environment.
Duties and responsibilities
1. People Operations & Employee Lifecycle
- Manage end-to-end employee lifecycle administration, including:
- Onboarding and offboarding
- Employment contracts and documentation
- Employee records and HRIS data accuracy
- Act as the point of contact for employee questions related to policies, benefits, and HR processes.
- Ensure people processes are clearly documented, consistently applied, and communicated effectively.
- Support smooth transitions for new hires and departing employees.
- Support initiatives and projects as required.
2. Payroll, Benefits & Vendor Administration & Coordination
- Prepare and validate payroll inputs and reporting.
- Track payroll timelines and escalate issues when needed to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Coordinate with payroll and benefits vendors across multiple countries to administer payroll and benefits accurately and in a timely manner.
- Support benefits enrollment and employee queries in partnership with stakeholders.
3. Culture & Employee Experience
- Support key culture and employee experience touchpoints, including:
- New hire welcome and onboarding experience
- Company-wide communications and updates
- Recognition and engagement initiatives
- Assist with engagement activities such as pulse surveys and feedback collection.
- Act as a trusted and approachable contact for employees, escalating issues appropriately.
- Help reinforce company values through consistent and fair people practices.
4. Recruiting Operations & HR Support
- Support recruiting operations, including:
- Job postings and recruiting administration
- Interview scheduling and candidate communication
- Offer letter preparation and onboarding coordination
- Help ensure candidates and new hires have a professional and positive experience.
- Support hiring managers with process guidance and coordination.
Requirements/Qualifications
Required experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in HR/ people operations or administration.
- Experience coordinating payroll and benefits, preferably with outsourced vendors.
- Strong attention to detail and process discipline.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Mandarin speaking ability is preferred due to interactions with regional teams.
- Comfort working with HR systems, spreadsheets, and process documentation.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
Preferred experience:
- Experience supporting distributed or remote teams.
- Exposure to employee engagement or culture initiatives.
- Familiarity with HRIS, ATS and payroll tools such as BambooHR, LinkedIn Recruiter.
- Experience in a startup or high-growth environment.
