Permitting & Environmental Compliance Specialist

At OMS Group, timely and compliant permit approvals are essential to keeping our operations on schedule across multiple regions. As our Permitting & Environmental Compliance Specialist, you will manage the preparation, submission, and tracking of permit applications including operational, regulatory, and environmental permits ensuring accuracy, compliance, and on-time delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and complete permit applications for various operations across different regions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collect, compile, and organize all necessary documentation required for permit submissions.
- Coordinate timely submission of permit applications to relevant government/regulatory agencies, serving as the primary point of contact to follow up and expedite approvals.
- Maintain a comprehensive and organized document control system to archive all permit-related documentation, ensuring all records are accurate and up to date.
- Provide support to other team members in the preparation of documents, reports, and additional paperwork as required.
- Participate in internal meetings to provide updates on the status of permit applications, address bottlenecks, and offer solutions to ensure smooth operations.
- Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines including environmental regulations to ensure all permits and applications comply with the latest legal requirements.
- Proactively identify potential compliance risks and work with the team to address them promptly.
- Contribute to the improvement of internal workflows and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the Permitting Department.
Key Requirements:
- Degree in Environmental Science, Law, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in permitting, regulatory affairs, compliance, or document control is an advantage. Familiarity with environmental permits is a plus. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Sound understanding of regulatory and government agency processes; familiarity with environmental regulations (e.g., DOE, EIA) is beneficial.
- Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to review submissions thoroughly before release.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; confident in engaging with government officials and regulators.
- Strong organizational and document management abilities; capable of maintaining structured, auditable records.
- Proactive and solution-oriented, with the ability to identify issues and propose practical options.
- Able to manage multiple permit applications across regions effectively.
- A collaborative team player who works well across departments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with document management systems is an advantage.
Salary Range = RM 6000 - RM 7000
