Job Description

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Plant Quality Manager to lead and strengthen our manufacturing quality performance at Stellantis Gurun Plant, Kedah.

This strategic leadership role plays a critical part in ensuring product excellence, regulatory compliance, and superior customer satisfaction across all plant operations.

Job Summary

The Plant Quality Manager will drive the overall plant quality strategy and take full ownership of the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with global automotive standards and customer expectations.

This role oversees quality performance metrics, leads new model quality readiness, manages supplier quality performance, and champions continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and product reliability.

Reporting directly to the Plant Head, the incumbent will have the authority to escalate critical quality risks and recommend containment or production stop decisions to safeguard product integrity and brand reputation.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Leadership & Governance

  • Lead and manage the Plant Quality function in alignment with global Stellantis quality standards.
  • Establish plant quality objectives, KPIs, and continuous improvement roadmap.
  • Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Represent the plant during certification audits, customer audits, and regulatory reviews.

Operational Quality Management

  • Drive improvements in key quality performance indicators such as Internal & External PPM, COPQ, scrap, rework, and warranty performance.
  • Lead structured problem-solving initiatives using methodologies such as 8D, FMEA, and 5-Why.
  • Oversee inspection, testing, validation, and quality assurance processes.
  • Ensure timely implementation of containment and corrective actions

New Model & Supplier Quality

  • Lead quality readiness for new product launches, including APQP, PPAP, and Run@Rate activities.
  • Monitor supplier quality performance and implement supplier development initiatives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to mitigate quality risks.

Team & Quality Culture Development

  • Coach, mentor, and develop the plant quality team to build future leaders.
  • Promote a strong quality mindset across shopfloor and cross-functional teams.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives including Lean, Kaizen, and Six Sigma practices.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related technical discipline.
  • Professional certification in Quality Management (e.g., Six Sigma, Lead Auditor) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 710 years experience in automotive manufacturing quality environment.
  • At least 35 years in a leadership role managing quality teams.
  • Strong hands-on experience in IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 systems and customer audit management.
  • Proven success in defect reduction, scrap optimisation, and warranty risk mitigation.
  • Solid knowledge of root cause analysis tools, SPC, Lean manufacturing, and OEM / contract manufacturing operations.

Team Scope

  • Direct leadership of approximately 10 Quality team members
  • Indirect oversight of about 25 personnel across quality control and related support functions
