Job Description

Job Title: Procurement / Buyer Specialist

Location: Rawang, Selangor, Malaysia

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Sourcing Specialist / Assistant Manager to join a fast-growing manufacturing organization in the new energy and lithium battery industry. This role will be responsible for end-to-end procurement activities, supplier management, and ensuring stable material supply to support production operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in supplier sourcing, purchase order management, and supply chain coordination, preferably within the electronics, battery, or new energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end procurement activities, including supplier sourcing, purchase order issuance, delivery tracking, and price accuracy.
  • Ensure timely material supply to support production schedules and prevent supply disruptions.
  • Monitor market supply conditions and pricing trends, and collaborate with strategic procurement teams to adjust sourcing strategies accordingly.
  • Conduct supplier evaluation and capacity assessment to ensure reliable supply capability and long-term partnerships.
  • Manage delivery planning and scheduling, adjusting shipment timelines based on changing demand and production requirements.
  • Oversee inventory levels for assigned raw material categories, ensuring optimal stock levels while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Work closely with quality and suppliers to resolve issues related to non-conforming or defective incoming materials.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to handle defective materials, returns, and corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration with engineering, quality, logistics, and production teams to ensure smooth procurement operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of procurement / sourcing / material planning experience, preferably within the new energy, electronics, or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, including supplier lifecycle management, contract management, and supply market analysis.
  • Familiar with related operational processes such as procurement workflow, inspection & return procedures, and engineering change management (ECN).
  • Good understanding of upstream and downstream supply market trends for key materials.
  • Proficient in SAP / ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Fluent in English, with the ability to communicate in Chinese being an advantage.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and supplier negotiation skills.
