About The Role

This position supports Fonterra's Procurement team by managing supplier relationships, contracts and sourcing strategies to secure value, reduce risks, and improve efficiency. The role focuses on category management, vendor performance, and strategic sourcing to deliver sustainable value for the business. Procurement Specialist ensures suppliers meet compliance, food safety, and health & safety requirements while also driving continuous improvement and cost savings.

Core Functional

  • Develop sourcing strategies for medium and complex spend categories, ensuring alignment with Fonterra's Global Category Management (GCM) strategies.
  • Act as primary contact point for assigned suppliers and vendors.
  • Negotiate contracts to maximize sustainable value and deliver win-win outcomes.
  • Manage supplier relationships focusing on cost, service, risk, quality, safety, sustainability and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure effective procurement processes and supplier performance.
  • Budget and Conversion Cost Management
  • Deliver cost savings and optimize value through structured sourcing and effective contract negotiations.
  • Support implementation of GCM strategies to drive savings at market level.
  • Monitor vendor performance against KPIs to ensure cost competitiveness and long-term value.
  • Track vendor related risks and cost exposures, escalating when necessary.
  • Continuous Improvement and Compliance
  • Implement vendor management strategies that align with Fonterra's policies, sustainability and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor supplier compliance with contracts, sustainability targets and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure procurement processes are transparent, ethical, and compliant with internal policies.
  • Collaborate with Group Category, Legal, and Business Units to ensure vendors meet compliance expectations.
  • Escalate non-compliance or high-risk issues and work on corrective actions.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Food Science & Technology, or related fields.
  • At least 35 years of experience in procurement or sourcing/development of ingredients.
  • Candidates with substantial experience in food technology or ingredient sourcing within FMCG manufacturing environments are strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with cost-benefit analysis is also beneficial.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
