PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Product Application Manager involves a combination of baking expertise, leadership, and technical application of bakery ingredients and processes. This role typically focuses on product development, recipe creation, and overseeing the applications of various ingredients in the production of bakery goods. This role has a broad set of responsibilities that combine technical knowledge with customer-facing support, product development, and operational functions. These functions require a blend of technical expertise, strong customer service skills, knowledge of the baking industry, and the ability to innovate in a competitive marketplace.
The Product Application Manager role is crucial for bridging the gap between ingredient development and real-world application, ensuring that our products are not only high-quality but also usable, practical, and effective in bakery production environments.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- To lead the Application team - guide, inspire, and manage the Application chef / specialist towards achieving the company's innovation and product development goals.
- Responsible for Recipe Development & Innovation
- Develop innovative recipes that highlight the unique benefits of the company's ingredients
- Work with customers (e.g., bakeries, food service operators) to develop customized recipes that align with specific taste preferences, texture requirement or branding needs.
- Adapt recipes to regional tastes and market trend.
- Identify and resolve any issues related to recipe execution, ingredient functionality, and product consistency during the application phase.
- Collaborate and work closely with the R&D team to ensure that recipes and formulations are aligned with technical specifications, ingredient availability, and production feasibility.
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to provide bakery insights, contribute to marketing content, and promote the company's products or services.
- Participate in client-facing meetings and events, for instance trade show, demonstration and product launches, providing expert advice on recipe development, product applications, and ingredient functionality.
- Stay updated with current market trends, customer demands, and emerging technologies in the bakery sector.
- Adhering to the HSE and Food Safety Management System (FSMS).
- To ensure ISO & Food Safety Management procedures are implemented in the department.
JOB Requirement
- Degree in food science / technology / culinary or professional chef certification preferred or similar suitable discipline
- Minimum 2 years experience in related field in Hotels/Restaurants with knowledge of Foodservice/Cooking/Culinary
- Commercial / Innovation Acumen understands how to convert new products & innovations into business results.
- Market Acumen- understands how the baked goods market operates.Adept at analysing key business drivers / trends & identifying opportunities to increase business performance.
- Trusted Advisor person the client or peer consults for reflective thinking & insight.
- Systems Thinking use a solid understanding of a complete organisational system to make explicit how all aspects of the system interact. Can identify root cause of problems through expanded, holistic view.
- Highly literate with excellent understanding of the written word and able to communicate clearly to a range of people
