At Lam, as a Product Engineer, you thrive in high-stakes, dynamic environment, driving product and supplier development at the forefront of the semiconductor equipment industry. Collaborating closely with suppliers and internal teams, you will provide real-time problem-solving to supplier challenges and to enhance our products. Your passion for engaging with suppliers and innovative engineering drives progress in our industry, tackling the once unsolvable.
In this role, you will directly contribute to Supplier Engineering & Technology (SET).
What You'll Do
- This position is needed to support and manage suppliers who manufacture equipment frames and structural weldments.
- Supports product development from product prototyping, development, deployment/product release, and initial supplier support.
- Present analysis and support technical recommendations clearly and concisely.
- Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams to guide the development of suppliers, manufacturing of products, resolve manufacturing issues, and improve supplier quality.
- On-site support of suppliers to qualify manufacturing processes, audit supplier quality systems. Ensure ERP and MES systems are robust and have effective control of manufacturing processes.
- Drive root cause and corrective action analysis on supplier quality issues and escalations
- Administer supplier quality ccorecard for existing suppliers to monitor supplier quality performance and promote continuous improvement.
- Maintain a high degree of supplier face to face engagement and international travel to supplier sites to resolve product and supplier issues.
Minimum Qualifications
Who we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Material Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optics, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 10+ years of experience.
- Experience in quality management, auditing, 8D methodology, continuous improvement, 6S.
- Experience in supplier qualification and development
- Experience in various manufacturing processes needed to fabricate parts/assemblies in various environments, such as fabrication and cleanrooms.
- Creative thinking, problem solving, and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Exceptional clear communication and presentation skills.
- Comfortable traveling up to 25% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior product design and technical engineer experience is beneficial.
- Experience designing, specifying, building, operating, and maintaining semiconductor, automotive, aerospace, or related hardware, tools, and equipment.
- Experience coordinating and communicating with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with sheet metal, frames and structural weldments fabrication processes and current working knowledge of process control and qualification
- Current working knowledge of AWS welding standard

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. On-site Flex you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. Virtual Flex you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
