We are seeking a results-driven engineer to own product yield and performance while ensuring high reliability in both manufacturing and field operations. This role focuses on driving continuous improvement in yield, efficiency, and product quality through data-driven analysis and structured problem-solving. The candidate will lead failure analysis for production and customer-returned units, implement effective corrective and preventive actions, and support mass production stability.
In addition, the role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams—including R&D, QA, manufacturing, and suppliers—to resolve technical issues, support new product introduction (NPI), and optimize test processes. The ideal candidate will also contribute to team development through coaching and knowledge sharing, ensuring strong technical capability across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Yield & Performance Ownership
- Own product performance metrics including yield, OBA/OBD, and warranty return rate.
- Monitor and drive improvements on first-pass yield (FPY) and overall production efficiency.
- Identify yield gaps and implement corrective actions.
2. Failure Analysis & Issue Resolution
- Lead failure analysis for manufacturing rejects and field return units (RMA).
- Apply structured RCA methodologies (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, DOE).
- Drive closure of NCMR, SCAR, and CAPA with effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Implement containment actions for critical production issues.
3. Customer Failure Analysis (FA) & Reporting
- Lead and prepare Failure Analysis (FA) reports for customer-returned units.
- Perform detailed root cause investigation and validation testing.
- Provide clear, structured, and timely FA reports including:
- Problem description
- Failure verification
- Root cause analysis
- Corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Interface with QA and customer-facing teams to ensure accurate communication.
- Support customer audits, escalations, and technical clarifications when required.
4. Continuous Improvement
- Drive initiatives to improve product reliability, robustness, and manufacturability.
5. Production Support & Mass Production Stability
- Provide technical support to ensure smooth production and on-time delivery.
- Troubleshoot electrical and process-related issues on the line.
- Work closely with technicians and engineers for quick issue resolution.
6. New Product Introduction (NPI) & Mechanical Review
- Participate in design reviews with focus on DFM/DFA integrity.
- Support EVT/DVT/PVT builds and ensure readiness for mass production.
7. Supplier & Contract Manufacturer Management
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure that all materials and components meet production requirements and quality standards.
- Support supplier FA and incoming quality issues.
8. Test & Calibration Optimization
- Improve test coverage, cycle time, and efficiency.
- Support calibration strategy and test process improvements.
9.Coaching & Knowledge Sharing
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians in failure analysis and troubleshooting.
- Provide technical training to improve team capability.
10. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with R&D, QA, Manufacturing, and Application teams.
- Lead technical discussions and align solutions across teams.
Requirements:
- Competent and knowledgeable in problem solving and quality/statistical tools such as 8D, PFMEA, Fishbone Diagram (Ishikawa), 5 Why Analysis, CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions), RCA (Root Cause Analysis), Pareto Analysis
- Technical Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to document processes, present findings, and provide training to operators and other stakeholders.
- Knowledge in Surface Mount Technology (SMT), Through-Hole Technology (THT), PCB Assembly, Wave Soldering and Reflow Soldering is an essential.
