Role Overview:
The Production Manager is responsible for leading overall production operations at the Malacca manufacturing plant, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing performance. This role plays a critical role in driving operational excellence, meeting production targets, and supporting business growth through optimized processes, disciplined execution, and strong team leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage end-to-end production operations, ensuring all manufacturing activities meet safety, quality, productivity, and cost control standards.
- Develop, execute, and monitor production plans and schedules to achieve output targets, optimize capacity utilization, and ensure on-time delivery.
- Coordinate closely with engineering, quality, maintenance, and supply chain teams to resolve production issues, stabilize processes, and improve plant performance.
- Establish and track key production KPIs, analyze operational performance, and prepare regular reports for management review and decision-making.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on process optimization, equipment efficiency, waste reduction, and downtime minimization using structured improvement methodologies.
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, actively promoting a strong safety culture across all production activities.
- Manage manpower planning, staff development, training, and performance management to build a capable, disciplined, and motivated production team.
- Oversee coordination of raw material and finished goods inventory in collaboration with planning and logistics teams to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline; a Master's degree will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in production or operations management within chemical manufacturing or similar industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of production planning, process control, quality management systems, and industrial safety standards.
- Proven leadership and people management capabilities with experience leading production teams in structured manufacturing environments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to drive performance improvements through data-driven approaches.
- Hands-on exposure to continuous improvement frameworks such as Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma, or ISO-based systems.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and modern manufacturing technologies will be advantageous.
