Job Description
PURPOSE
The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading daily manufacturing operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective production of products while meeting quality, delivery, productivity, and customer requirements.
The incumbent is responsible for supervising production employees, coordinating resources, production planning, monitoring production performance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to achieve operational excellence. The role works closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, EHS, and Human Resources to ensure optimal plant performance and employee development
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead daily production activities to ensure manufacturing schedules are achieved safely, on time, and in compliance with quality standards.
- Supervise production operators, material handlers, team leaders, and temporary employees to ensure work is performed according to established work instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety requirements.
- Responsible for production planning and allocating manpower, machines, materials, and production resources to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
- Responsible to monitor hourly production output, labor productivity, downtime, material shortages, and production efficiency, taking immediate corrective actions when deviations occur.
- Responsible for full compliance with company safety policies, EHS procedures, and Malaysia occupational safety requirements, while promoting a strong safety culture throughout the production floor.
- Responsible to conduct daily Gemba walks, safety observations, and workplace inspections to identify risks, eliminate unsafe conditions, and maintain high housekeeping standards.
- Responsible for full compliance with quality standards by ensuring operators follow approved work instructions, control plans, inspection requirements, and process controls.
- Responsible to support investigation and resolution of quality issues, customer complaints, production defects, and non-conforming materials through structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Responsible to work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to support new product introductions, process changes, automation projects, fixture improvements, and lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Responsible to coordinate with Supply Chain and Warehouse teams to ensure timely material availability and support Just-In-Time (JIT) material feeding and inventory control activities.
- Responsible to conduct daily production meetings, communicate plant priorities, review performance metrics, and ensure effective information sharing across shifts.
- Responsible to lead employee engagement activities and foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Responsible in preparation and maintain production records, manpower reports, downtime reports, productivity reports, and operational KPI dashboards.
- Participate actively in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and Smart Factory initiatives to improve overall plant performance.
- Perform any other duties assigned by management in support of business objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in:
- Manufacturing Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Production Management
- Operations Management
- Business Management
- Related Technical Discipline
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 1 to 2 years in a supervisory or team leadership role.
- Experience in the following environments is preferred:
- Assembly Manufacturing
- Metal Fabrication
- Welding Operations
- HVAC Equipment Manufacturing
- Cooling Tower Manufacturing
- Industrial Equipment Manufacturing
- Engineer-to-Order Manufacturing
- High-Mix Low-Volume Production
Experience managing direct labor, production planning execution, quality improvement, and productivity initiatives is highly advantageous
