Role Overview:
To lead and delivery complex, multi-disciplinary energy infrastructure projects (PV, BESS, grid interconnection/PMU and transmission), ensuring achievement of scope, schedule, cost, quality, and HSE targets, while securing approvals, ensuring regulatory and grid compliance and driving successful commissioning and project close-out.
Responsible for end-to-end project execution, governance, and stakeholder management, ensuring seamless coordination, effective risk and contract management and delivery aligned with business objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Provide overall leadership and accountability for end-to-end project delivery across engineering, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and energisation, ensuring full alignment with project objectives covering scope, schedule, cost, quality, HSE, performance targets, and regulatory compliance, including TNB and grid code requirements.
- Establish and drive an integrated project execution strategy, including development and governance of master project plans (WBS, schedule, cost baseline, resource allocation, and interface management), with strong emphasis on proactive risk management, mitigation planning, and continuous optimisation.
- Champion a culture of safety and quality excellence by enforcing robust QA/QC frameworks, HSE management systems, and site governance practices, including implementation of safety plans, permit-to-work systems, and hazard identification and risk assessments (HAZID/HAZOP)
- Oversee project governance, reporting (daily to monthly), and contract administration, ensuring effective stakeholder coordination and timely issue resolution.
- Lead overall project governance and reporting to senior management and stakeholders, ensuring accurate, timely, and transparent reporting (daily to monthly), strong contract administration, commercial oversight, and effective resolution of critical issues.
- Oversee technical delivery of utility-scale energy infrastructure, including PV, BESS, and grid interconnection systems, ensuring seamless integration from design through execution to performance optimisation in accordance with engineering standards and project specifications.
- Serve as the key authority on grid compliance and interconnection, driving all required studies, approvals, and technical coordination, including protection schemes, SCADA/teleprotection integration, and close engagement with TNB for testing, synchronisation, and energisation readiness.
- Direct the development and readiness of permanent site infrastructure, ensuring operational sustainability, maintainability, and seamless transition into O&M.
- Lead commissioning, performance testing, and project handover, ensuring all systems meet contractual and technical requirements, documentation is complete, and the project achieves successful close-out with full stakeholder satisfaction.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (postgraduate preferred), PMP or equivalent certification is an advantage.
- Minimum 15 years experience in the power/energy sector, including at least 10 years leading multi-disciplinary teams or managing Project Managers across generation, transmission, and distribution projects.
- Proven track record in delivering large-scale CAPEX projects with full accountability for end-to-end execution, including planning, commissioning, contract administration, and regulatory/grid compliance (e.g. TNB), with senior stakeholder reporting.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders and drive alignment across scope, schedule, cost and claims.
- Solid capability in risk management and project controls, including planning tools (e.g. Primavera/MS Project) and cost forecasting, with a strong integrity and compliance focus.
