Project Engineer

Mills Recruitment is partnering with a China-based engineering company that has expanded into Malaysia. The company is an engineering and construction contractor with a growing project portfolio across Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia. The Project Engineer will oversee planning, coordination, and execution of construction and gas system projects. This role requires technical expertise, site experience, and strong stakeholder management skills. Duties and Responsibilities:

The Project Engineer will be responsible for managing engineering project operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and timely delivery. Key responsibilities include:

A. Project Planning & Coordination

- Assist in planning overall project scope, schedule, and resources.

- Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.

- Prepare and review project technical documents and plans.

B. Engineering & Technical Support

- Read and interpret AutoCAD drawings, specifications, and construction plans.

- Provide engineering solutions and technical support during project execution.

- Assist in site supervision and ensure compliance with technical requirements.

C. Budget & Cost Control

- Participate in project budgeting, cost estimation, and quantity surveying.

- Monitor project costs to ensure alignment with budget targets.

- Prepare progress claims and project reports when required.

D. Project Execution & Quality Control

- Monitor project progress to meet deadlines and project milestones.

- Ensure work quality meets engineering standards and client requirements.

- Implement workplace safety and compliance with site regulations.

E. Team Collaboration

- Work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.

- Communicate effectively with site teams and management on project updates.

- Assist the Project Manager in daily project operations and decision-making.

Qualifications and Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree or above in Engineering or related fields.

- Atleast 2-3 years of experience as a project engineer in gas engineering, industrial engineering environment, construction or related engineering projects.

- Experience in budgeting & following through project execution.

- Ability to read and understand AutoCAD drawings

- Hardworking, willing to learn and is proactive

- English and Mandarin speaking proficiency is essential to effectively communicate with clients/stakeholders.

- Willing to travel for outstation or on-site work when necessary
