Job Overview
We are seeking a Project Engineer to manage and coordinate assigned projects from project award through to final close-out. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered according to contractual requirements, technical specifications, agreed timelines, quality standards, and client expectations.
The role requires close coordination with clients, suppliers, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Production, QHSE, Finance, and other internal stakeholders to ensure smooth and timely project execution.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Management & Close-Out
- Manage and coordinate assigned projects from award through final project close-out.
- Ensure project execution is aligned with contractual scope, technical specifications, schedules, and client expectations.
- Coordinate project activities across different departments to ensure timely delivery.
2. Schedule & Progress Monitoring
- Monitor project schedules, milestones, progress, deliverables, and documentation.
- Identify potential delays, deviations, and project issues proactively.
- Drive corrective and recovery actions to keep projects on schedule.
- Provide regular updates on project progress to management and relevant stakeholders.
3. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Act as the key liaison between clients, suppliers, SCM, Engineering, Production, QHSE, Finance, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate meetings, follow-ups, action items, and project requirements.
- Ensure clear communication and timely resolution of project-related issues.
4. Materials & Technical Follow-Up
- Follow up on material procurement and availability according to project requirements.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, expediting, shipment, and delivery activities.
- Follow up on technical submissions, drawings, specifications, and other project documentation.
- Ensure materials and technical deliverables comply with project specifications.
5. Risk, Budget & Cash Flow Monitoring
- Monitor project risks, budgets, cash flow, costs, and delivery timelines.
- Identify potential commercial and operational risks and escalate issues promptly.
- Support budget planning, cost recovery, and project recovery initiatives.
- Implement appropriate mitigation plans to protect project margins and delivery commitments.
6. Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure projects are executed in accordance with company procedures and contractual requirements.
- Ensure compliance with QHSE and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate with relevant teams to address quality and compliance issues.
7. Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare and maintain accurate project reports and progress updates.
- Prepare meeting minutes and track action items.
- Maintain project-related technical and commercial documentation.
- Ensure project records are complete and properly controlled throughout the project lifecycle.
8. Client & Site Coordination
- Represent the company during project meetings, client visits, inspections, and site coordination activities.
- Maintain professional and responsive relationships with clients.
- Travel to project, client, supplier, and site locations when required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 3–8 years of experience in Project Engineering or related project execution roles.
- Experience in the Oil & Gas industry is preferred.
- Proven experience in:
- Project execution
- Client and supplier coordination
- Project scheduling and progress monitoring
- Inspection and testing coordination
- Expediting
- Procurement follow-up
- Technical documentation and document control
- Exposure to valves, actuators, flow control systems, or industrial equipment will be a strong advantage.
- Good understanding of project planning, budgeting, cash flow monitoring, and risk management.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication, negotiation, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Bahasa Malaysia proficiency is an advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with MS Project or other project scheduling/document control systems is an advantage.
- Willing to travel to project, client, supplier, and site locations when required.
