Job Overview:

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering electrical construction works for data centre projects, ensuring completion within scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards. This role requires strong technical expertise in electrical systems for mission-critical facilities, excellent coordination with stakeholders, and strict adherence to safety and regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

Project Planning & Execution
  • Lead end-to-end project management for electrical works in data centre construction projects from kick-off to commissioning and handover.

  • Develop and manage project schedules, work programs, manpower planning, and resource allocation.

  • Ensure project milestones are achieved in accordance with contractual requirements and client expectations.

Technical & Engineering Management
  • Oversee electrical systems including HT/LV distribution, UPS, generators, power monitoring systems, grounding, and redundancy (Tier IIV).

  • Review and coordinate electrical drawings, shop drawings, method statements, and technical submissions.

  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, international standards (e.g. IEC, IEEE), and local authorities requirements.

Cost, Contract & Procurement Control
  • Manage project budgets, cost control, and cash flow.

  • Review variations, claims, and progress claims with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.

  • Coordinate procurement of electrical materials, equipment, and subcontractor works to meet project timelines.

Stakeholder & Team Management
  • Act as the main point of contact with clients, consultants, main contractors, vendors, and authorities.

  • Lead, supervise, and motivate site teams including engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors.

  • Chair project meetings and provide regular progress updates and reports to management and clients.

Quality, Safety & Risk Management
  • Ensure strict adherence to Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures and site safety requirements.

  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to avoid delays or cost overruns.

  • Ensure all works comply with HSE standards, statutory regulations, and company policies.

Testing, Commissioning & Handover
  • Oversee testing, commissioning, and integrated systems testing (IST) for electrical systems.

  • Ensure proper documentation, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and handover requirements are completed.

  • Support client audits, inspections, and final acceptance processes.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

  • Minimum 510 years of experience in electrical construction projects.

  • Proven experience managing data centre, mission-critical, or high-tech industrial projects.

  • Strong exposure to HT/LV systems, UPS, generators, redundancy design, and commissioning.

  • Strong knowledge of data centre electrical infrastructure and industry standards.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Detail-oriented with strong decision-making and negotiation abilities.

  • Willingness to be based on site and travel as required.

  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and project delivery excellence.

Remuneration:

  • MYR 8,000 - MYR 12,000
