Client Sector: Global agriculture and commodity trading client (CGI client)
Location / Work Model: Kuala Lumpur / Petaling Jaya, Malaysia - hybrid model with a few days per week at client office and remaining days remote/work from home, subject to client project needs
Engagement Type: Full-time. Immediate availability preferred / maximum 1 month notice
Experience Level: Minimum Intermediate: 5-8 years project management experience Preferred Senior: above 8 years project management experience
Working Language: Fluent English required Mandarin is a strong plus
Position Overview:
CGI Malaysia is seeking a Project Manager to support a CGI client global Master Data IT team in delivering master data and data management initiatives across global and local business teams. The role is intended for a project management profile with preferred background in Master Data Management (MDM), data management, data quality, integration, governance, or enterprise application delivery.
The successful candidate will act as the delivery coordination lead for MDM/data workstreams, ensuring that scope, schedule, dependencies, RAID items, stakeholder alignment, testing, documentation, and reporting are managed with strong discipline. The role requires close collaboration with global stakeholders, local teams, and regional teams supporting North and South America.
The role will operate in a hybrid work model: a few days per week are expected at the client office for stakeholder engagement, onboarding, workshops, and project alignment other days may be performed remotely from home, subject to project needs and client policy.
Role Objectives:
. Provide disciplined project management across multiple MDM/data initiatives, balancing delivery pace with governance and quality.
. Bridge global MDM standards and local business needs through clear coordination, issue resolution, and stakeholder alignment.
. Maintain end-to-end visibility of project progress, dependencies, risks, decisions, testing readiness, and documentation.
. Support the Solution Manager and technical teams by translating plans, issues, and priorities into actionable delivery tracking and stakeholder communications.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Project Planning & Governance
. Define and maintain project plans, milestones, workstream schedules, dependencies, deliverables, and action logs for MDM/data initiatives.
. Establish reporting cadence, governance forums, RAID management, change control, escalation paths, and stakeholder decision tracking.
. Coordinate several concurrent small-to-medium projects or enhancement workstreams while maintaining delivery priorities and timeline discipline.
Stakeholder & Regional Coordination
. Act as the coordination point across global MDM teams, local IT teams, business stakeholders, and regional teams supporting North and South America.
. Facilitate workshops, regular status meetings, alignment sessions, and working groups with multicultural stakeholders across different time zones.
. Ensure project communications are clear, timely, and tailored for operational teams, management stakeholders, and technical delivery teams.
MDM / Data Delivery Support
. Support delivery of master data and data management workstreams, including data quality, data integration, data modeling, data governance, and harmonization initiatives.
. Work with Solution Manager, business analysts, and technical teams to clarify scope, requirements, dependencies, and delivery acceptance criteria.
. Contribute to business analysis activities by helping identify gaps, process inconsistencies, and opportunities for harmonization across systems and regions.
Risk, Issue & Dependency Management
. Proactively identify risks, issues, deviations, and cross-team dependencies that may impact delivery timelines, quality, stakeholder readiness, or project outcomes.
. Assess impact and drive mitigation actions in coordination with the Solution Manager and relevant workstream owners.
. Maintain transparent status updates, including action owners, due dates, decisions required, and escalation items.
Testing, Quality & Operational Readiness
. Coordinate integration testing, user/business validation activities, test scripting, execution tracking, defect follow-up, and test documentation across systems and teams.
. Support readiness reviews, cutover or deployment planning where applicable, and post-implementation follow-up for assigned initiatives.
. Ensure deliverables, project documentation, meeting decisions, test evidence, and knowledge transfer materials are complete and well organized.
Reporting & Performance Tracking
. Prepare executive-ready weekly/monthly status updates, KPI dashboards, milestone views, RAID summaries, and stakeholder communications using Excel, PowerPoint, and relevant tracking tools.
. Track schedule performance, issue resolution, documentation completeness, stakeholder engagement, and overall delivery health.
. Provide clear visibility of completed actions versus planned actions to support accountable delivery management.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Required Experience
. Minimum Intermediate level: 5-8 years of IT project management, project coordination, or delivery management experience.
. Preferred Senior level: above 8 years of IT project management experience, ideally in data, application, ERP, integration, or global delivery environments.
. At least 3-5 years of experience managing multiple concurrent workstreams, stakeholder reporting, RAID/action tracking, governance forums, and delivery escalations.
. Preferred exposure to MDM or data management initiatives, including data quality, data integration, data modeling, data governance, master data harmonization, or enterprise application dependencies.
. Experience working with global and regional stakeholders across different time zones and multicultural teams.
Required Skills
. Strong project management capability covering scope, schedule, resources, dependencies, RAID, change control, action tracking, and stakeholder reporting.
. Working understanding of MDM/data management concepts such as data quality, data integration, data modeling, master data harmonization, data governance, and enterprise application dependencies.
. Ability to coordinate technical and business teams across regions and translate project issues into clear actions and decisions.
. High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Project & PowerPoint for planning, tracking, status reporting, management updates, and action dashboards.
. Excellent written and spoken English able to lead meetings, prepare concise status updates, and communicate confidently with international stakeholders.
. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, ownership, follow-through, and ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
. Prior experience in Master Data Management platforms such as Tibco EBX, SAP MDG, Informatica, or equivalent enterprise MDM solutions.
. Exposure to SAP business processes, ERP landscapes, back-office/front-office applications, or enterprise integration environments.
. Experience using Jira or similar project management / issue-tracking tools.
. Experience with Power BI or similar data visualization and reporting tools.
. Project management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum, or equivalent practical delivery experience.
. Mandarin language capability is a strong plus for collaboration with global stakeholders where applicable.
Monthly KPI Dashboard
. Schedule performance: milestone completion, critical path adherence, and aging of overdue actions.
. Risk and issue management: quality of RAID tracking, mitigation progress, and escalation timeliness.
. Stakeholder management: reporting cadence, meeting effectiveness, and decision turnaround.
. Testing and quality: integration test progress, defect closure, and readiness outcomes.
. Documentation and handover: completeness of project artifacts, decisions, test evidence, and knowledge transfer materials.
. Delivery control: visibility of completed versus planned actions across active MDM/data workstreams.
Travel & Work Style
. Hybrid work model based in Kuala Lumpur / Petaling Jaya: expected to work a few days per week from the client office for onboarding, stakeholder sessions, workshops, project alignment, or critical delivery activities remaining days may be remote/work from home, subject to client policy and project needs.
