Job Description
Support the Senior Manager, DCI in driving new business growth and renewal retention, maintaining strong relationships with both external (brokers, agents) and internal stakeholders, and ensuring high-quality underwriting across multi-product lines within the Digital Commercial Insurance (DCI) portfolio. The focus is on broking and agency business, digital transaction proficiency, analytical excellence, and supporting team development.
Underwriting of Risks
- Underwrite and make decisions for daily referrals submitted by intermediaries and distribution channels within authorized limits.
- Underwrite multi-product lines within the DCI portfolio.
- Prepare quotations for marketers and respond to all calls/enquiries within agreed turnaround times.
- Provide underwriting and technical support to agents/distribution channels.
- Prepare referrals for higher authority approval for risks exceeding authorized limits.
- Monitor risk accumulation to ensure the company's net and treaty protection is not over-exposed.
- Coordinate with Risk Engineers for risk surveys and follow-up on risk improvement measures.
Portfolio management
- Support the implementation and achievement of underwriting targets for new business and renewals.
- Track and monitor the DCI portfolio, assisting in the preparation of profitability and loss reports.
- Collaborate with Senior Manager, DCI and other Product Line Managers (PLM) in developing new and enhanced products.
- Participate in system enhancement initiatives, including UAT testing and maintenance.
Business Growth & Retention
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, focusing on broking and agency channels.
- Support strategies to expand the customer base and achieve business targets.
- Review and analyze renewal data to identify retention risks and support effective retention strategies
Stakeholder Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, and internal teams (claims, operations, product).
- Serve as a key contact, ensuring clear communication and prompt issue resolution.
Digital Transaction Expertise
- Demonstrate proficiency in digital platforms and tools for underwriting and policy administration.
- Support digital adoption among partners and clients for seamless transactions.
Staff Support & Development
- Support the development and training of team members as directed by management.
Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to all regulatory and company guidelines, including department SOPs.
- Comply with delegated underwriting authorities and ensure compliance within the team
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in insurance, Business, or related field
- Proven experience in underwriting, especially in broking and agency business.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with digital insurance platforms.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communicator with strong relationship management abilities.
- Results-driven, proactive, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
