Job Description

Perform lab trial blends and analytical testing to bring new and revised formulations into production safely, on time and to specification. Collaborate with manufacturing and technical teams to validate results, resolve issues and support wider QC coverage with scope to grow

Key Accountabilities

Primary (core) accountabilities

  • Personally conduct lab trial blends for new or changed formulations, working within defined variable/nonvariable limits and master specifications.
  • Perform the required analyses, including Storage Stability Tests (SST) and firstproduction SST; arrange testing with accredited external labs when needed and ensure approved methods are followed.

Support duties

  • Coordinate the lab workflow for formulation changes (sample prep, test methods, documentation and handover to production) to meet quality and timeline targets.
  • Initiate and track BOM updates after formulation changes to keep costing and materials accurate.
  • Consolidate inputs with manufacturing/technical teams to assess plant readiness as part of the New Product Introduction (NPI) process.
  • Support the QC Chemist on recovery/rework trials and associated testing.
  • Assist with lab quality practices, including supplier COA verification and periodic review of particle count data.
  • Complete roundrobin testing and help close audit actions; support continuous improvement and compliance (e.g. ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
  • Help review and reconcile formulation/specification data across internal systems.
  • Support daytoday QC operations as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Applied Science or a closely related field.
  • 1 year of experience in manufacturing or research, preferably in the lubricants, oil or chemicals industry; exceptional fresh graduates with researchassistant experience and strong academic results will be considered.
  • Handson experience with liquidproduct test methods (e.g. viscosity, elemental analysis, flash point, foaming etc).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to work independently and proficient with standard office software and basic data/record keeping.
  • Willing and able to work rotating shifts (twoshift rotation).
  • A Registered Chemist with Institute Kimia Malaysia, IKM is an advantage.

This position is for the Castrol Lubricants business and is a local package role located in Malaysia, based at the Port Klang Plant, with no travel required.
