Recreation Assistant

Position Overview:

The Recreation Assistant is responsible for assisting in the daily operation of the Recreation Department by facilitating recreational activities and ensuring guests enjoy engaging, safe, and memorable experiences during their stay.

This role supports both outdoor and indoor recreational activities, including nature walks, bird watching, cycling, team building programmes, gym operations, and other resort activities, while maintaining excellent guest service in accordance with IHG brand standards and Mangala Estate's nature-inspired resort philosophy.

The Recreation Assistant plays a key frontline role in interacting with guests, preparing activities, and maintaining recreation facilities and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Recreation Activity Support

• Assist in organizing and conducting daily recreational activities for guests.
• Support outdoor activities such as:
• Guided nature walks
• Bird watching sessions
• Cycling activities
• Eco and nature exploration programmes
• Assist in conducting indoor recreational games and wellness activities.

Team Building & Group Activities

• Support the Recreation team in conducting corporate team building activities and group recreation programmes.
• Prepare equipment and materials required for group activities.
• Assist in facilitating interactive games and team challenges.

Gym & Indoor Recreation Support

• Assist in maintaining the fitness centre / gym and indoor recreational facilities.
• Ensure gym equipment is clean, safe, and properly arranged.
• Provide basic guidance to guests on using gym equipment where appropriate.

Guest Engagement & Service

• Greet and assist guests in recreation areas and activity locations.
• Promote daily recreational programmes and encourage guest participation.
• Provide friendly, professional, and engaging service to guests.
• Respond to guest inquiries regarding activities and resort facilities.

1. Safety & Activity Supervision

• Ensure all guests participating in recreational activities follow safety guidelines.
• Assist in conducting safety briefings before activities when required.
• Monitor activities to ensure guest safety at all times.
• Report any incidents or safety concerns to supervisors immediately.

Equipment & Inventory Care

• Prepare and maintain recreation equipment including bicycles, sports equipment, archery sets, and activity tools.
• Ensure equipment is properly stored, cleaned, and maintained after use.
• Report damaged or missing equipment to supervisors.

Recreation Area Maintenance

• Ensure recreation areas, activity spaces, and equipment storage areas are clean and well organised.
• Maintain safe and hazard-free environments in recreation facilities.
• Support housekeeping and engineering teams in maintaining recreation areas when required.

Water Sports Activities

• Assist in organizing and facilitating water-based recreational activities such as kayaking, canoeing, paddle activities, and other approved water sports offered by the resort.
• Ensure all water sports equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and stored after use.
• Provide guests with clear safety instructions and ensure safety equipment such as life jackets and safety gear are used when required.
• Monitor guests during water activities to ensure their safety and compliance with activity guidelines.
• Report any equipment defects or safety concerns immediately to supervisors.

Kids Room

• Assist in supervising the Kids Room and children's recreational activities.
• Organize and facilitate engaging activities for children such as games, creative workshops, educational activities, and indoor play programmes.
• Ensure the Kids Room is clean, safe, and properly equipped at all times.
• Monitor children's safety and ensure activities are conducted in a safe and controlled environment.
• Provide friendly and attentive service to families and children visiting the recreation area.

Accountability

• The Recreation Assistant is accountable for:
• Supporting smooth daily operation of recreational activities
• Ensuring guest safety during activities
• Maintaining recreation equipment and facilities
• Providing friendly and engaging guest service
• Assisting in the successful execution of activity programmes

General Responsibilities

• Maintain professional grooming and presentation according to resort standards.
• Demonstrate positive behaviour and professionalism when interacting with guests and colleagues.
• Attend departmental meetings, briefings, and training sessions.
• Support resort events, activity programmes, and guest engagement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with IHG brand standards, resort policies, and safety procedures.
• Perform any other duties assigned by Management.
