Regional Legal Counsel

About our client:

Our client, a leading Global Manufacturer, is looking for an experienced Regional Legal Counsel to provide comprehensive legal support across APAC operations. The role will partner closely with business stakeholders and senior management on corporate and commercial matters.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide timely and practical legal advice to regional business stakeholders on corporate, commercial, contractual, regulatory and risk-related matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, including supply and distribution agreements, NDAs, MOUs, consultancy agreements, joint ventures, shareholder agreements and M&A-related documentation.
• Manage disputes, claims and litigation matters, including arbitration, in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external legal counsel.
• Act as the regional compliance point of contact, supporting compliance programmes, training business teams and providing guidance on day-to-day compliance matters.
• Oversee corporate governance and company secretarial matters across legal entities in APAC, including statutory and regulatory filings.
• Support M&A, corporate restructuring and new entity establishment projects, working closely with the General Counsel, external advisers and relevant business teams.
• Partner with the Group Insurance function and local brokers on insurance-related claims, queries and legal matters.
• Support the General Counsel and senior management on strategic legal projects and other ad hoc assignments, while ensuring the company's interests are protected and applicable laws and regulations are followed.

Key Requirements:

• Degree or Masters in Law (LLB or equivalent) and Malaysian Bar or English Bar qualification.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant legal experience from Manufacturing industry.
• Strong experience in corporate and commercial law, including contract drafting, review and negotiation.
• Good exposure to M&A, corporate governance, compliance, disputes and regulatory matters.
• Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with a practical and commercially minded approach.
