Job Description

Reporting Accountant Specialist - Bangsar South

Life Unlimited. At Smith+Nephew we design and manufacture technology that takes the limits off living.

The Reporting Accountant Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of effective, efficient, and high-quality Record-to-Report (RTR) processes for assigned countries. The role owns accounting operations and period-end close activities, ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, the Group Finance Manual, and Minimum Acceptable Practices (MAPs).

The role holder is results-driven and confident, with a strong focus on continuously improving RTR processes while delivering reliable services and positive outcomes for stakeholders.

This role requires proactive collaboration with other finance transactional towers to coordinate, drive, and implement solutions that ensure smooth daily accounting operations and timely month-end close. The position works closely with internal stakeholders including Controllers, ITP, OTC, FBP, and FP&A teams, and also manages external relationships with bankers and auditors.

What will you be doing

Daily & Period-End Accounting Activities

Independently manage daily and month-end accounting activities, including posting manual journal entries, preparing accruals, provisions, amortization, and performing foreign currency revaluations. Ensure accurate balance sheet reconciliations, compliance with accounting standards and internal controls, and maintain up-to-date process documentation.

Stakeholder & Cluster Support

Serve as the primary point of contact for local stakeholders and finance teams on general accounting matters. Provide cross-entity and cross-country support within the assigned cluster, while promoting knowledge sharing, standardization, and best practices across entities.

Continuous Improvement

Act as a subject matter expert and role model within the team, providing guidance and coaching to junior members. Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency and effectiveness across RTR processes.

Ad Hoc & Project Support

Handle complex ad-hoc accounting matters, investigations, and management requests. Support regional or global finance initiatives, projects, and system migrations as required.

What will you need to be successful

Requires a Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management (preferred but not mandatory). Candidates should bring 79 years of experience in accounting, Record-to-Report (RTR), or finance operations, with at least 2 years in a senior role being an added advantage. Strong experience in a Shared Services Centre (SSC/GBS) or regional finance environment is essential, along with solid hands-on exposure to ERP systems and proven analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management capabilities.

The ideal candidate will be fluent in both written and spoken English and Korean, and demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills. A collaborative mindset, assertiveness, and the ability to effectively resolve problems are key competencies required to succeed in this role.
