We're hiring a 2nd Line Operational Risk specialist to partner the business, challenge risk decisions, and strengthen enterprise-wide risk governance. This role reports directly to the Chief Risk Officer and plays a critical role in protecting the organisation from operational losses, regulatory exposure, and control failures.
This is not a 1LoD operational role, and not an audit or compliance execution role. You will sit independently, challenge constructively, and influence senior stakeholders.
What you'll be responsible for
Operational Risk Management (Core Focus)
- Own and maintain the Operational Risk Management framework, policies, and methodologies
- Lead Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCSA) and independently challenge business risk registers
- Perform Risk-Based Control Testing (RBCT) to validate control effectiveness
- Track loss events, KRIs, and remediation actions, following up with business owners
- Ensure BNM Operational Risk Reporting (ORR) is accurate and delivered on time
Enterprise Risk Management
- Review and support the calibration of risk appetite and metrics
- Prepare risk reports and papers for senior management and risk committees
- Support Priority Risk workshops and enterprise-level risk discussions
Operational Resilience
- Work closely with BCM and Technology Risk teams to ensure alignment with operational resilience objectives
Governance & Risk Culture
- Act as ERMC Secretariat
- Conduct risk awareness training and guide Risk Champions
- Support the CRO on strategic and ad-hoc risk initiatives
What we're looking for
- Minimum 5 years experience in Operational Risk / Enterprise Risk (2LoD preferred)
- Strong understanding of RCSA, KRIs, loss event management, and control testing
- Experience in Insurance (General Insurance preferred)
- Comfortable challenging senior stakeholders and influencing outcomes
- Strong risk reporting, data analysis, and presentation skills
- Degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance, Business or related field
- Professional certifications in risk, insurance, audit, or related disciplines are an advantage
