Role Overview
The Risk Manager will oversee risk management and project assurance across EPC construction projects. This role is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks related to project cost, schedule, quality, and contractual obligations while ensuring compliance with QA/QC standards. The position involves collaboration with project teams and periodic travel.
Risk Management
- Develop and implement risk management frameworks across EPC projects.
- Facilitate project risk identification workshops with cross-functional teams.
- Maintain and update project risk registers and risk mitigation plans.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative risk assessments and develop risk heat maps.
- Monitor emerging project risks including schedule delays, procurement risks, contractor performance, and technical issues.
- Track mitigation actions and ensure timely escalation of critical risks to senior management.
Project Assurance & QA/QC Oversight
- Support implementation of project quality management systems aligned with ISO 9001.
- Monitor compliance with QA/QC procedures across engineering, procurement, and construction activities.
- Review inspection and test plans (ITP), non-conformance reports (NCRs), and corrective actions.
- Participate in internal quality audits and site inspections.
- Identify quality-related risks that could impact project performance or contractual obligations.
Project Governance & Reporting
- Prepare periodic risk reports, dashboards, and risk summaries for senior leadership.
- Support project risk review meetings and risk governance processes.
- Provide recommendations on risk mitigation strategies to project directors and stakeholders.
- Ensure risk management practices are embedded throughout the project lifecycle from tender through commissioning.
Contractual & Commercial Risk
- Support review of EPC contracts and identify potential contractual risk exposures.
- Monitor risks related to claims, variations, and potential disputes.
- Work with commercial and legal teams to assess contract-related risk impacts.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, or related discipline
- 10+ years of experience in risk management, project controls, QA/QC, or project assurance within EPC or construction environments
- Familiarity with project risk frameworks from the Project Management Institute or similar bodies
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Willingness to travel.
