Safety Health Officer

Overview

The Safety & Health Officer is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe working environment across project sites and operations. The role focuses on regulatory compliance, risk management, safety audits, and supporting project teams in implementing effective workplace health and safety practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with workplace safety, health, and environmental requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments and identify potential hazards associated with project activities.
• Develop, implement, and monitor safety procedures, control measures, and improvement initiatives.
• Perform regular site inspections, audits, and compliance reviews.
• Work closely with project teams and stakeholders to address safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe practices, and recommend preventive measures.
• Support emergency preparedness and response planning activities.
• Maintain safety documentation, records, and regulatory submissions where required.
• Prepare periodic reports on safety performance, audits, incidents, and compliance status.
• Promote a positive safety culture through training, briefings, and awareness programs.
  
  

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, Environmental, or a related discipline.
• Relevant workplace safety certifications and professional qualifications.
• Several years of experience in a health, safety, or EHS-related role.
• Good understanding of workplace safety regulations, risk management, and compliance requirements.
• Experience conducting inspections, audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work independently in a project-based or operational environment.
• Experience supporting engineering, construction, industrial, infrastructure, manufacturing, or technical projects is advantageous.
