Role Overview
The Sales Manager will develop Malaysia's HVAC and data center markets by securing product specifications, building strategic industry relationships and converting major projects into profitable sales.
The role manages the complete project-sales cycle, from early consultant engagement and technical specification through tendering, negotiation, award and delivery coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute sales strategies for HVAC, data center and mission-critical infrastructure projects.
- Achieve assigned revenue, gross-profit, order-intake and market-development targets.
- Identify upcoming greenfield, expansion, upgrading and replacement projects and maintain a healthy opportunity pipeline.
- Build strategic relationships with M&E consultants, developers, data center operators, contractors, system integrators and facility owners.
- Engage consultants and design engineers during the early project stages to secure product registration, vendor approval and inclusion in technical specifications.
- Promote engineered flow-control and automation solutions for chilled-water, cooling-water and central cooling systems.
- Provide technical advice on product selection, sizing, pressure ratings, materials, actuation and application suitability.
- Review mechanical drawings, piping schematics, technical specifications, equipment schedules, bills of quantities and tender documents.
- Coordinate the preparation of technical proposals, compliance statements, product submissions, quotations and tender documentation.
- Manage the complete sales process, including lead qualification, specification development, tender follow-up, commercial negotiation and order closure.
- Formulate competitive pricing and negotiation strategies while protecting margins and controlling commercial risks.
- Monitor projects from design and tender stages through award, delivery, installation and commissioning.
- Develop strategic account plans for major consultants, contractors, developers and data center stakeholders.
- Monitor market investments, construction activities, emerging requirements and competitor movements to identify business opportunities.
- Work closely with international principals on technical clarifications, project pricing and product support.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts, opportunity pipelines, customer records and project progress reports.
- Provide technical and commercial guidance to junior sales personnel where required.
- Represent the organization at customer meetings, technical presentations, project-site visits and industry events.
- Travel regularly within the assigned territory for customer and project engagements.
Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of technical sales, project sales or business-development experience within HVAC, building services, mechanical equipment or the data center ecosystem.
- Proven experience engaging M&E consultants, contractors, developers, EPC companies or data center stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of specification-driven sales, consultant engagement, tendering, technical submissions and commercial negotiations.
- Practical knowledge of chilled-water systems, central cooling plants or related HVAC infrastructure.
- Exposure to valves, actuators, balancing and control equipment or related flow-control solutions is advantageous.
- Established relationships within Malaysia's HVAC, M&E consultancy, construction or data center markets are preferred.
- Demonstrated success in developing project pipelines, winning major contracts and achieving revenue and profitability targets.
- Strong commercial judgement, presentation, stakeholder-management and negotiation skills.
- Self-driven, resourceful and capable of independently managing complex, long-cycle project opportunities.
