Today was good. Tomorrow will bleed better.
Who we're looking for / The role
We are looking for a Sales Operations Manager to drive Blood's retail execution in Malaysia. This role is responsible for ensuring on-shelf availability (OSA), promotional compliance, planogram / shelf standards, and in-store display execution across all retail partners by managing Blood's outsourced merchandising shared-service agency.
This is a hands-on role that will have a direct impact on Blood's growth trajectory in Malaysia by ensuring flawless on-ground execution, strong retailer/store relationships, and tight agency governance.
Core Responsibilities
1) Plan and govern outsourced store visits (30%)
Own the visit schedule and frequency across all assigned retailer doors in Malaysia (by chain, cluster, and priority tiers).
Work with the shared-service merchandising agency to plan routes, coverage, and manpower to meet execution standards.
Ensure 100% visit compliance (stores visited as scheduled, within agreed service levels).
Audit and validate agency-submitted data and photos (OSA, price, displays, POSM, planogram compliance), and flag discrepancies quickly.
Maintain clean store master data (store lists, store tiers, key contacts, store-specific requirements).
2) Drive retail execution standards through clear processes (30%)
Share promotion bulletins, display priorities, planogram changes, and execution guidelines with the agency ahead of each cycle.
Ensure processes are followed for stocktake / replenishment triggers, promo price checks, before/after photos, POSM installation/maintenance/removal.
Conduct periodic refresher trainings with agency team leads and merchandisers (including spot checks / coaching in-store).
Partner cross-functionally (KAM, supply chain, marketing) to unblock recurring execution issues and reduce repeat failures.
Own execution tool + data integrity: define what good looks like (OSA/compliance definitions), set QC rules, and continuously improve workflows so field data is reliable and actionable.
3) Build win-win store relationships and push secondary opportunities (30%)
Conduct regular in-store fieldwork (especially top doors / strategic accounts) to support agency execution and build trust with store teams.
Build relationships with store staff and managers; brief them on hero SKUs, product benefits, and promo mechanics.
Push boundaries to secure secondary placements, incremental facings, and better shelf positions when opportunities arise.
Identify and document store-level issues/opportunities (including competitor activities) and translate them into actions with the KAM / BU lead.
Support cross-functional audits and ad hoc projects as needed (distribution audits, store mapping, launch rollouts).
4) Reporting, governance, and continuous improvement (10%)
Prepare regular reporting on key execution KPIs (OSA, promo compliance, display compliance, POSM on-time installation).
Consolidate store photos and field insights into clear recommendations and next actions for commercial and marketing teams.
Own agency performance management: KPI scorecards, corrective action plans, and structured performance reviews / QBRs; ensure accountability against agreed service levels and outcomes.
Own POSM & display asset operations (where applicable): coordinate POSM quantities, dispatch, installation/removal tracking, and basic asset accountability to avoid printed but not installed.
Lead major promo windows and new launches in-store: ensure rollout readiness (distribution, shelf placement, price file checks, display priorities, and store-level briefing) with tight follow-through.
Future Scope: promoter coordination (as business scales)
As Blood grows in Malaysia, this role may progressively take on responsibility to coordinate and manage sales promoters (agency / freelance / part-time), including:
promoter deployment planning for key periods, launches, and promo weeks
briefing and training on product selling points and promo mechanics
on-ground checks and simple performance tracking (attendance, conversion proxy metrics, feedback)
Skills & Qualifications
47 years experience in sales operations, retail operations, merchandising management, or field execution roles (FMCG preferred).
Strong understanding of modern trade execution and store operations in Malaysia.
Proven experience managing third-party agencies / outsourced field teams with clear KPIs and governance.
Comfortable with KPI analysis, problem-solving, and turning messy field inputs into clear priorities.
Willingness to spend significant time in-store and on the ground to guide, learn, and resolve issues.
Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to follow up relentlessly to ensure execution happens.
