Job Summary
The SAP WM Support Consultant is responsible for providing functional and technical support for the SAP Warehouse Management and Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) modules. This role involves analysing and resolving system incidents, performing configuration changes, and collaborating with business users to improve warehouse processes. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of SAP logistics and strong problem-solving skills to ensure efficient and accurate warehouse operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Incident and problem management:
- Serve as a point of contact for end-users regarding SAP WM and EWM issues.
- Provide expert-level support, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for complex incidents and recurring problems in WM and EWM processes.
- Monitor and manage system interfaces, such as inbound and outbound queues (qRFC), ensuring data integrity between EWM and integrated systems like SAP S/4HANA or ECC.
- Configuration and change management:
- Manage and implement system changes and enhancements, including configuration adjustments and functional testing.
- Collaborate with technical teams to develop technical specifications for custom solutions, reports, and interfaces.
- Perform functional testing of new developments, enhancements, and system upgrades.
- Business process improvement:
- Work with business stakeholders and process owners to analyze business requirements and propose WM/EWM solutions to optimize warehouse operations.
- Recommend and implement best practices for WM/EWM to drive operational excellence.
- Integration and cross-functional support:
- Work on integration points between SAP WM/EWM and other core SAP modules, such as Materials Management (MM), Sales and Distribution (SD), Logistics Execution (LE), and Production Planning (PP).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless end-to-end logistics execution.
- Training and documentation:
- Create and update system documentation, training materials, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for end-users.
- Provide knowledge transfer and training to junior consultants and business users.
- Performance and monitoring:
- Monitor key system performance indicators and track resolution of support tickets within agreed-upon service level agreements (SLAs).
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Logistics, or a related field is typically required.
- 5 years hands-on experience in SAP WM and EWM implementation and support is essential. Strong functional and configuration knowledge of key SAP WM processes, including:
- Warehouse structure (storage types, storage sections, storage bins).
- Inbound and outbound processes (Goods Receipt, Putaway, Picking, Packing, Shipping).
- Movement types and transfer orders.
- Putaway and stock removal strategies.
- Physical inventory procedures.
- Radio Frequency (RF) and mobile data entry integration.
- Expertise in EWM functionalities: Advanced knowledge of EWM processes including:
- Inbound and Outbound processing
- Warehouse structure and layout
- Picking, packing, and putaway strategies
- Physical inventory management
- Handling unit management
- Radio Frequency (RF) framework
Technical skills:
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA EWM, including embedded and/or decentralized EWM deployments.
- Familiarity with ABAP debugging to assist with issue resolution.
- Working knowledge of interfaces (IDocs, EDI) and queue management.
Soft skills:

IT Service Management: Practical experience with ITIL processes for incident, problem, and change management.

- Certifications: SAP EWM Certification is a significant advantage.
