Who We Are Looking For:

The Scientific Account Lead is responsible for leading the scientific and editorial delivery of assigned projects/events/accounts, ensuring the highest quality delivery of MedComms solutions. Through a deep understanding of the market and therapy area, client needs, and MedComms services, the Scientific Account Lead will play a key role in driving MedComms business growth.

What Impact You Will Make:

  • Maintain a deep scientific understanding of clients and competitors brand portfolios to proactively provide strategic consultancy on MedComms solutions.
  • Write and manage delivery of scientific content for a range of MedComms deliverables, that meets client needs, internal quality standards and timelines.
  • Provide scientific counsel and leadership to key account team(s) to ensure strategies/tactics are scientifically sound and of high quality.
  • Lead the delivery of the scientific and editorial components of projects and events.
  • Lead client meetings/teleconferences during project kick-off and client meetings.
  • Lead and facilitate discussions amongst external experts during briefings, slide reviews, and advisory boards, to ensure successful delivery of events and other medical communications projects.
  • Take briefs directly from clients/other stakeholders and provides clear briefs to team members.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with clients and external experts through credibility demonstrated by scientific understanding, MedComms knowledge and consultancy and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactively seek new business opportunities and contribution to continued organic growth of key accounts.
  • In partnership with Business Managers/Director, lead sales enablement and drive scientific component of new business initiatives, ensuring best-in-class strategic proposals and pitches.
  • Provide feedback on scientific components of budget development.
  • Provide line management to Medical Writer(s), setting clear goals and expectations, career and development plans and monitoring and evaluating performance.
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentoring of editorial and other colleagues on topics such as scientific and therapy area knowledge, MedComms best practice, and compliance.

What Skills and Experience You Will Bring:

  • Graduate degree in the sciences (PhD, MSc) or healthcare science degree (MD, PharmD, BSc in nursing or allied profession).
  • At least 5 years experience working for a healthcare communications agency – ideally in an editorial/scientific capacity and gaining experience in delivering face-to-face / online programmes.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with an attention to detail and accuracy (assessed on application).
  • Collaborative approach to teamwork.
  • Flexible approach to work.
  • Sound ability to distil complex science into clear, concise messages.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office applications.
