The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. This role plays a key part in month-end close, financial analysis, and supporting audits, while also providing guidance to junior accounting staff.
Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Maintain general ledger integrity, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards (IFRS / GAAP) and internal policies
- Support external and internal audits, including preparation of audit schedules
- Assist in maintaining and improving internal controls and accounting procedures
Tax & Statutory Reporting
- Prepare or review tax filings such as VAT/GST, sales tax, and corporate tax schedules
- Ensure timely statutory and regulatory reporting
- Liaise with external advisors and tax authorities as required
Analysis & Support
- Perform balance sheet and P&L analysis, investigating and explaining variances
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes
- Provide financial insights to support management decision-making
Systems & Process Improvement
- Support ERP and accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Dynamics)
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Assist with system upgrades and implementations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 68 years of relevant accounting experience
- Strong experience with general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Experience in a corporate or professional services environment
