Data Ops Account & SSI team is functionally responsible for maintaining all Account and Settlement Instructions level data across number of Group Systems. This includes setting up, amending and de-activating both Account data and Settlement Instructions for all Global Banking, Global Markets, Commercial Banking Client (utilizing Global Markets Products), Prime Services (PS), Funds and Strategic clients across geographic locations. ASM is a well-established function operating globally and supporting 40 countries with 3 hubs in London, New York and Hong Kong and two processing sites in Bangalore and KL. The functions deal with large and extremely time sensitive transactions which are required to be performed with high level of quality and integrity while following FIM guidelines and therefore demands proactive management of operational risk, capacity planning and robust measurement of performance metrics.

Achieving this through the consolidation, simplification and continuous improvement of processes across the full range of HSBC operations, the division simultaneously takes responsibility for managing operational, location and processing risk and ensuring that services provided are at a best-in-class price point for the required quality level. Supporting Account Opening, Account Closure and Static maintenance on all key systems as per client requirement. Ensuring BAU, Projects, ad-hoc request is managed appropriately with controls in place and without compromising the quality.

What you'll do:

  • Ensure daily operational efficiency by oversight and close monitoring of operational workflows, market specific requirements/procedures and performance of various systems in Static Data Maintenance processing for Markets account.
  • Monitor process productivity to ensure quality targets are achieved. Issues/problems are fully analysed and resolved or escalated where necessary. Appropriate action/controls are taken to prevent recurrence.
  • To acquire a broad understanding of the Markets business and to keep abreast with the latest developments in the assigned markets on the rules & regulations by the regulators, stock exchange etc. that may have implication to the daily operations.
  • To prevent any operational losses by establishing effective internal controls and check points to scrutinise exceptions/errors that could lead to potentially fraudulent situations. All controls and checkpoints will be reviewed periodically for effectiveness test.
  • To lessen the impact of erratic workflows/volumes through effective resource planning, leave management and process prioritization by allocating/reallocating resources across teams.
  • Ensure knowledge retention by reinforcing concepts through continuous staff development and cross training across the business.
  • Procedural changes/new initiatives/workflows are reviewed, fully communicated and implemented across the board.
  • To ensure team members consistently maintain a high level of customer service by achieving established SLAs.
  • To support/implement Business Continuity Plan (BCP) by adhering to Group BCP guidelines.
  • Build rapport with customers (internal & external)
  • Provide information to customers based on requests made
  • Ensure that each work is completed in accordance with established procedures and standards, Produce MI as required
  • Identify and escalate potential showstoppers
  • Support achievement of team objectives
  • Participate in development of cohesive teams, foster development of co-workers
  • Contribute to the creation of a supportive work environment driven by people centric values
  • Build professional relationships with colleagues in other areas, delight internal and external customers
  • Exhibit ownership of the business

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • Possess good knowledge of operational workflow and systems within Static Data domain.
  • Evidenced ability to build rapport with various stakeholders and can contribute to make the team more effective.
  • Excellent Communication, planning and organizing skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and transfers knowledge appropriately, understand and interpret data.
  • Ability to speak and understand English fluently, writes business letters and reports, and has good conversational / telephone skills.
  • Knowledge in Global Banking and Markets.
  • Willing to be assigned on EMEA occasional change on shifting depending on resource and capacity allocation requirements.

What additional skills will be good to have

  • Knowledge in excel, data and some level of coding background.
  • Candidate must be flexible and willing to work in UK hours.
  • A good understanding of the overall securities industry from an operational and regulatory perspective.
  • Eye for detail in identifying errors/mistakes.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of SWIFT preferred but not essential.
  • Knowledge on MS Visual Basic is an advantage.
  • This will be a 12 Month Contract Position.
