Job Description

ROLE PURPOSE

Support the Commission's regulatory and supervisory functions through research, analysis, and cross-functional collaboration on authorisation, surveillance, supervision, policy development, and Shariah compliance to safeguard consumer interests, uphold market integrity, and strengthen confidence in the consumer credit industry.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Policy Development and Review

  1. Support policy development and reviews by conducting research, analysing market trends, and compiling supervisory insights including Islamic credit to ensure regulatory frameworks remain relevant, adaptive, and conducive to innovation.
  2. Assist in drafting and refining consumer credit law, regulatory policies, standards or guidelines by reviewing compliance requirements and providing operational input to strengthen governance and protect credit consumers.
  3. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate interpretation and practical application of laws, regulations, and standards for consistency and fair market practices.
  4. Coordinate data gathering and stakeholder engagement activities to support the implementation of regulatory initiatives and related frameworks.
  5. Monitor regulatory developments and emerging risks to provide research-based recommendations that enhance policy effectiveness and foster innovation in the consumer credit industry.

Surveillance & Supervision

  1. Assist in surveillance and supervision activities by gathering data, performing preliminary risk analysis, and preparing reports to support intervention actions that ensure regulatory compliance and protect credit consumers.
  2. Compile and analyse data from on-site reviews, regulatory submissions, and public sources to identify potential compliance gaps and emerging risks and provide insights to support recommendations for corrective measures.

Authorisation

  1. Assist in processing licence and registration applications by reviewing submissions for completeness, verifying compliance with authorisation criteria, preparing documentation for approval, and providing responsive support to regulatees while coordinating compliance checks with internal teams.

Operational Excellence & Learning

  1. Actively contribute to process improvement initiatives by providing feedback and supporting implementation of enhancements, while engaging in learning and development activities to build technical expertise and improve team effectiveness.
  2. Assist with ad hoc assignments as required, providing timely and effective cross-functional support to achieve and contribute to the Commission's overall objectives

QUALIFICATIONS

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Law, Commerce, Data Science, Information Systems or a related field

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in legal advisory, financial supervision, compliance, enforcement, supervisory or regulatory technology within a regulatory authority, financial services sector, or government-linked organisation.
  • Experience in supporting stakeholder engagement with government agencies, industry associations, and consumer advocacy groups, including coordinating meetings, preparing materials, and assisting with follow-ups.
  • Understanding of consumer credit laws, regulatory frameworks, and governance principles with familiarity in Shariah principles applicable to consumer credit products and services.
  • Exhibits analytical thinking, with ability to engage stakeholder engagement, uphold ethical integrity, adaptability, collaborative, and solid business and digital acumen
  • A Malaysian citizen
