Job Title: Senior AS400 COBOL Software Engineer | Core Banking Payment Systems

Contract Duration: 12 Months (Renewability based on the performance & business needs)

Working Location: TRX (Hybrid)

Working schedule: Office Hour (Monday - Friday)

Salary & Compensation: Basic Salary Up to RM 12,000 (based on skill and experience) + Statutory contribution + Leave entitlement + Medical insurance

Availability: Can start within July/August 2026

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced AS400 COBOL Software Engineer to develop and enhance core banking payment applications. You will be responsible for the end-to-end software development lifecycle, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions using AS400, COBOL, SQL, and DB2 technologies in a hybrid working environment.

Job Description:

• Design, develop and configure AS400 COBOL software modules, interfaces and components.
• Participate in the complete software development lifecycle from analysis through implementation and warranty support.
• Deliver quality software solutions within project timelines while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Explore and recommend business solutions to continuously enhance application functionality and user experience.
• Adopt application development standards, methodologies and best practices.
• Maintain and enhance AS400 applications.
• Work closely with stakeholders and clients to deliver project requirements.
• Continuously improve technical knowledge and stay updated with software development trends.
• Proactively identify project risks and escalate issues when necessary.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline.
• 5–8 years of AS400 COBOL development experience (6–12 years preferred).
• Strong experience with AS400, COBOL, SQL and DB2.
• Experience in the banking industry, preferably within payment systems.
• Experience participating in the complete software delivery lifecycle.
• Good communication skills with the ability to work with stakeholders across different levels.
• Experience working closely with clients to deliver software solutions.
• Advanced proficiency in AS/400 COBOL programming.

Nice to Have

• Experience with IBM Mainframe COBOL (S/390 or z/390).
• Knowledge of JIRA and ALDON.
• Previous experience in Analyst or Project Management roles with a strong COBOL background.
